Re: For those who have had an implant for at least 10 years

First and only implant 01/2002. Now 73 years young. AMS Malleable. No complaints until five years ago, wife had cancer 2-1/2 years and then died. Haven't had much use for it since, maybe in the future.

Re: Malliable rods

Malleable implant in 2002. At the time they had been having problems with auto-inflation, and failure rate was way above malleable. I had used MUSE, Viagra, and Vacuum. The malleable literature said "bend up for use, down for storage. The up part worked fine, the down part has never worked well...

Re: Practicality of Malleable/Semi-Rigid prostheses

I chose the malleable/semi-rigid in 2002 because at that time there were excessive failures and a significant problem with auto-inflation with the inflatables. There was also the fact that the procedure was less complicated and therefore less likely to lead to problems. All of that said, I took two ...

Who really did your surgery?

Did you get the surgeon you hired to do your surgery or was it someone else in his/her practice? A student? I was asleep so I don't really know. There was another (younger) Dr that was part of the "team".

Maybe new or maybe old idea

Just a suggestion, this site is fantastic for guys with ED. There are section/topics for just about anything. One thing I haven't seen is a section for spouses/significant others to discuss living with a guy suffering with ED. This might be of great value to us and them, the spouses/SO's just might ...

Re: Underwear

Sandy, I was implanted with a malleable in 2002 so my views might be somewhat out of date but...I went through months of trying to find underwear that was comfortable and would hide the implant. I tried anything and everything, even home modified. My conclusion is that what works for me might not wo...

Re: Will Medicare pay for an implant upgrade?

My guess is you're probably right and in fact, it's the truth. Knowing Medicare, patient satisfaction with function is somewhere near the bottom of their list.

Will Medicare pay for an implant upgrade?

I had a malleable implant 12 years ago. At the time the reliability of the inflatables wasn't quite there. Now I'd like to upgrade to an inflatable. I'm on Medicare. Will Medicare pay for the upgrade even if the old one isn't broken? If it was broken, would they pay for replacement with an inflatabl...

Re: How to place a semi rigid inplant when not in use

I think we have lost focus on this thread, it is about how to place a semi rigid implant when not in use. It seems to have migrated to a discussion on pain with a semi rigid implant. From first hand experience I know that this is important but feel it belongs on a separate thread. I don't want to mi...
