Re: A pumpless inflatable
We desperately need more advanced technology for IPPs. Have met with both Coloplast & AMS people in the past year and although they agree the present hydraulic pump tech is from the dark ages they both claim nothing new is in the pipeline. In my recent meeting with AMS I questioned why the pump ...

Re: Suggestion to manufacturers
This is an excellent question and the answer is that with only two manufacturers they don't because they don't have to as you''ll buy it anyway. Has zero to do with longevity of the bulb.
This will change but unfortunately it's years down the road.

Re: Updated billing on cost additional costs
The No. 1 problem is the very large & getting larger pool of people on Medicare & Medicaid. These federal entities pay the hospitals and doctors peanuts often far less than costs. But hospitals & doctors are under tremendous pressure to accept these people or be considered outcasts or ev...

Re: Updated billing on cost additional costs
Alibaba, the $70K bill is absolutely preposterous even based on my NY/NJ area known for shady medical billing practices. Your anesthetist billed for more than the total for the two surgeons. I'm in the hospital annually for a colonoscopy due to recurring polyps and always make it loud & clear in...

Re: Would you do it if you could start over?
alibaba, perhaps when you visit IL shortly you'll have the opportunity to review Dr McVary & Dr Bar-Chama's pump-free penile prosthesis made from nitinol and activated via an induction process which results in an erection with rigidity similar to inflatable implants at body temperature. The work...

Re: New Type Pump Free Penile Prosthesis
NOT OVERSTATED BY EVEN ONE IOTA!!! MANY MEN HAVE TACTILE PROBLEMS THAT HAVE RESULTED FROM NUMEROUS CAUSES SUCH AS MS, PARKINSON'S, PTSD, ETC., AND CAN'T FEEL THE PUMP DEFLATE BUTTON. DISCUSSED THIS WITH A COLOPLAST REP RECENTLY WHO ADMITTED THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION AND WANTED TO END THE FACE TO FACE ME...

Re: New Type Pump Free Penile Prosthesis
Yes, you can count on me. In the past I started two other threads on the futility of the hydraulic IPP for many people. I'll say it again: "there must be good reasons why only 1.5% of men having a radical prostatectomy get an IPP." BECAUSE THE IPP SCROTAL PUMP CANNOT BE MANIPULATED BY MANY...

Re: new type of electronic implant
There many reasons why only 1.5% of men that have a prostatectomy get an IPP. But clearly one of them is that this 50 yr old hydraulic system doesn't work for everyone. And as far as we know neither AMS or Coloplast is doing anything about it. In fact, at a recent Winthrop Men's Health Seminar the C...

Re: Pump-Free Penile Prosthesis Can Work, Early Study Shows
Unfortunately new advances in penile implant technology never get commercialized. Meanwhile we are stuck with a 50 yr old hydraulic system where anyone with any tactile impairment could never find the deflate button.

Re: Wireless Penile Implant
Congratulations, this is the first mention of such a needed practical device since I broached the subject the middle of last year. Sadly it lacks commercial support probably because the implant market is so small. But it's so small because the existing product is so primitive.
