Re: Return to work
From my recent surgery, i would kindly offer that is too early. Like everyone had said it depends on many factors. Week one I just took it easy, lots of laying down. Weeks 2 and 3, I worked from home (I was fortunate to be able to have done so). Week 4 i returned to work, and that may have been too ...

Re: Can some of you see the plumbing
Good luck and all the best both with your appointment and activation, Ed. My activation appointment was supposed to be last Saturday, but things were still to swollen to do it then. Big day is now this Wednesday! The day after you. And, everyone is right about your (my) mind running away with you......

Re: Still trying to adjust to the pump
Hi Ed, I'm about 25 days post op, and mostly smooth sailing. To answer your question about the pump, for me, I would say that the pump is the most uncomfortable part of the new me... Big hard, foreign thing in my smallish sac. But I think my sac is slowly accommodating the new customer... ;) Stiches...

Re: Should I tell my friends?
first, many thanks to everyone for such great and interesting responses. I don't know if this had ever been a topic before on Frank Talk, but it seeks to be of interest to many of you, who offered some great perspectives. I would even encourage new patients to spend some time thinking about who (If ...

Should I tell my friends?
A rather provocative title, no? Tonight I made what I think was a big social mistake... I told a good friend that i recently had undergone "surgery" (true) to explain why I had been out of action and out of communication for a few weeks... Of course he asks what type of surgery (I fully ex...

Re: 12 Days Before surgert
I'm 14 days post implant, and didn't think that I would yet be in a position to provide advice, but it is all pretty fresh in my memory, so here goes: 1) your decision is already made, so try not to think about it. This is a mental game, and an endurance contest. Dwelling on it or revisiting your de...

Re: Canadian journey (the voyage starts)...
Just got back from visit with my local urologist. In short, so far, so good. Imperative to keep icing to reduce swelling, and to avoid physical exertion. He said that the number 1 goal is to avoid infection. Another followup later this week to follow. So, not much to report, but also a good news sto...

Re: Canadian journey (the voyage starts)...
Hi all, Well, I've arrived at day 6. Sorry for the delay, today I drove 8 hours, and boy are my balls sore. Funny, but true. Reminds me of the old Soupy Sales joke, some of you probably know what and who I'm talking about. Thank goodness for an inflatable cushion, plus several bags of frozen p...

Re: Heading for Baltimore tomorrow......
Good luck, everything will be fine. I had my implant 5 days ago, and lived to tell the tale! Be sure that they give you a prescription for stool softener, very important. Per the sage words of many others before me, use lots of ice!!! Warm showers great as well. Stay sedentary for at least 3 d...

Many thanks to everyone who has responded and for your kind words of encouragement! I live in the Ottawa area, but was raised on Expo baseball in SW Ontario! Blue Monday and the year the Expos (almost ) won the world series, etc. Although I live in eastern Ontario, I had the surgery done elsewhere. ...
