Don't know where you are based, but you might try connecting with an implantee on FT who is willing to do a 'show and tell'.
I have done it for a couple of guys and they seem to hav gotten a lot of reassurance out of it.

From personal experience, I would highly recommend checking out the Frank Talk Therapy.
Very humane, understanding and helpful.

From other posts on FT, it appears that this is not uncommon.
