Re: Finally a resolution
$6500 for surgery $1000 for anesthesia, antibiotics, and antifungals $15,000 for the inflatable machine (for malleable device - $8000) This was the average quote I received from surgeons with decent volumes about 7 months ago for an outpatient, self-pay option (no big hospital involved). I believe ...

Re: Finally a resolution
Should be a simple call to Dr Hackey to get real numbers. I tried that once before, they wanted to setup an appointment first to assess the device. I didn't need to pay him about $500 on a office visit just to tell me that my device is broke and needs to be replaced. I'll probably have to do that a...

Finally a resolution
Well I finally have a resolution for my issues with UMR. Work is going to continue to pursue a solution with UMR but will be giving me a set amount of cash to get the surgery done. Can anyone give me a close estimate of the total cost of self pay through Dr Hakky? I do believe I will be going to him...

Re: How Many Here Have had a Revision?
My revision won't matter much. I was implanted Apr 2023 failed 1 week later revision in June 2023 and that one failed Jan 2024. Still waiting on getting yet another revision but having to fight insurance. I'm sure that since it's been about 10 months that there will most likely be loss, vacuum pumps...

Re: How long do Dog Ears Hurt?
The dog's ears mostly stopped hurting after about three months. I still have prominent dog ears at the base of the shaft when deflated, but they have not been at all painful since about six months after surgery. I have a Titan Touch. From what I can gather, dog ears also can happen with the AMS IPP...

Re: Revisions and reservoirs
For a younger person who might need several, how will they manage? Can’t they just reuse it if the implant is of a similar type? Why introduce new one? Is the tubing to the reservoir pre-connected? They won't reuse it. Problem is you don't know what all bodily fluids have infiltrated into the reser...

Drs who do self pay and costs
Those who have had or done self pay, which Dr did you use and how much did he charge? Was it all inclusive or were there extra charges involved? Just needing some input.

Re: Revisions and reservoirs
I had my original surgery April 2023, and revision in June 2023 - only about 10 weeks apart. They left the first reservoir in place even though it was such a a short time. I think most of the time if it's your first revision they'll leave it in place and just place the new one on the other side, not...

Re: Absolutely no luck for revision
But honestly what helped in my case is the fact that insurance records and stores all the calls. I was able to find out the day and time I called by looking it up in my call logs for my cell phone and providing that information along with the info from my Dr and Hospital saying they wouldn't have do...

Re: Absolutely no luck for revision
My only issue with Hakky is he appears to be a Coloplast person vs me being AMS. But it's in the right direction though. Consider Dr. Charles Kaplan, if you are looking for an AMS expert not too far from Dr. Hakky's office. https://www.gaurology.com/our-physicians/physician/charles-kaplan/ Someone ...
