Implant for Severe Psychogenic ED

Postby defiant » Thu May 24, 2018 7:06 am

I am just wondering what people’s thoughts are on seeking an implant to put to bed the endless issues that come with a psychogenic ED that has snowballed for over a decade.

In my case, I have not had the opportunity sadly to really try and get rid of the problem with a partner even though I have been in understanding relationships, unstable and insecure as they were....

Cialis also, despite the waves of anxiety, still works and I have a 95-97% success rate with it since the beginning of my time on it. I’m 34 right now, have had multiple investigations including 2 dopplers which were ‘normal’ even though my erections were weak as hell, (though I understand that isn’t the determinant of healthy blood flow in this test) and one night time study with 5 normal long lasting erections in the night.

But how long can one go on with this BS?!

Seeking advice from people on how a single man should move forward with this; explaining to new women, broaching sex with newcomers, whether I should just pack it in and get an implant!?

I refuse to not have sex.
37, mild to moderate ED since age 21, 3 Dopplers - 1 result VL & 3 later results 'no physical problem', dependent on cialis (efficacy now waning), overcame Lymophoma at age 26, ED causing immense/profound psychological distress. Considering implant.

If the Cialis works for you, I'd stick with that.

An implant can't be undone. Patient satisfaction is incredibly high, but there are downsides. There's a long recovery period after surgery, and some men experience extreme pain for several weeks. There is also the risk of mechanical failure (yes, implants do break).

There are a number of experimental treatments in the queue. They are YEARS away. But you are still very young, and if the Cialis works, I'd stick with it.

Isn't 95-97% success rate completely normal?

With physical solutions, the standard procedure (and there are good reasons for it) is to try every viable solution, starting with the least-invasive ones first.

If the cause is suspected to be psychogenic, it makes sense to try the least invasive solutions for that condition as well. If you can get nocturnal erections, (while you are asleep, the conscious mind gets out of the way of your subconscious mind) it seems to me that hypnosis may duplicate that freeing of the mind. An effective cure which can be quite effective quite quickly. I would try psychotropic drugs last, but still before going to the rather drastic solution of surgery.

I suffered from coital anxiety for many years and in my case, oral medication worked: Cialis and oral phentolamine. I believe phentolamine is excellent in cases of psychogenic ED because it blocks sympathetic action in the penis. I know nothing about implants but they are irreversible and too drastic a solution.
Age 40. Psychogenic ED for over 20 years. Current regimen: Udenafil 200 mg, oral phentolamine mesylate 40 mg, Seredyn.

I had the most success with trimix injection. With pills there was always the anxiety of, "will it work this time?" With trimix, erection was a sure thing for me. The downside was lack of spontaneity, limited use (three times weekly), and loss of sensitivity.

I finally decided to get an implant because I was unable to orgasm with trimix. My erection was so full that I lost most of the sensitivity. So my partner was having a great time but me...not so much. Don't get me wrong...I loved having a guaranteed strong erection after many years of failure.

Im still waiting to activate my implant on the 17th so we shall see....

My belief is that implant are the LAST resort, only after all else fails. It is a long process to get back to a somewhat normal cock, yes a very hard one but problems can occur,
