As I just started radiation and Lupron post prostatectomy, treatment for ED months

I'm sorry I can't answer your question. My experience with strap-ons and harnesses is very limited. I have zero experience with the hollow dildos. I don't mean to butt into your business but totally waiting to deal with ED may not always be recommended. IF ... I understand pw1956 correctly he is seeking a temporary intermediary device solution between radiation and lupron treatmeants and his doctor "approving" a possible implant for ED.

I dont believe he is personally seeking to delay an implant himself.

Anyway, I have little personal experience with strap-on's myself as in personal usage, however; I have considerable knowledge from being associated with the organized Fetish community and the adult sex toy [not necessarily medical device] industry.

Hollow base penis dildos, most common as (short) penis extenders are generally designed to be used as penis extensions. They fit over an errection, sort of like a condom, only thicker walled and looser fitting. It is possible to find longer models. Tension is generally used to hold them in place.

Flare based, generally solid dildos; feature a flanged disc at the bottom. These dildos are designed to be inserted through the "0" ring on an o-ring harness and retained by the flange for the back thrust. The o-ring, made of metal, synthetics or fabric are usually retained to the harness by tabs with several "snap" retainers.

It might be difficult to find a hollow flange base dildo.

"Vac-U-loc" retention system require a solid base dildo (no flange) with the proper sized bore to mate with the jagged prong, similar to a hose nipple ; where vacuum retains the connection on the back thrust. There is no way to insert a penis and the prong.

As far as harness, IE: g-string or double strap; [primarily designed for female wearers] you'll want the most secure and washable unit you can find as body fluid and lubricant gather quickly.

He talks about different strategies, but the point is to do whatever it takes to get hard on a regular basis. It is a case of use it or lose it. (Even my urologist told me that!) The point is to get the blood into the penis and for the muscles not to atrophy. Use a viagra-type med, or injection, or whatever. Get your wife to fondle you. Whatever it takes to get a rise!

If wearing a hollow dildo does something for you, then OK, And if you feel you need one to satisfy your wife, OK. But you need to try various things to get a rise.

I was out of town and returned yesterday. As I was driving back I stopped at the Sex Shop that advertises on the highway. It was a Lion's Den. I've been there several times before and know that they carry a fairly large and diverse selection although they are expensive. One again, "In my personal experience within the Fetish realm" ... is that most common (not all) hollow dildos are designed as penis extensions and hold by tension similar to a condom.

Yeah, I'm not denying that the selection of products that you described exsist ; for the usage that you specified.

What I said was that the majority of the hollow products on the "adult toy" market are marginal products primarily used as penis extension designed to be utilized over an errection for whatever reason and that more quality hollow dildos designed to be used in a harness would be more expensive difficult to locate. [as you indicated yourself]

Take that for whatever its worth.

I stated what my personal experience was for the usage I was most familiar with in the Fetish community to support the idea that was mentioned that the male wearing it would N0T be the individual getting the most increased pleasurable experience having his penis extended, while having his Glans encased in a heavy layer of vinyl. Noting that it would be the femal partner that benefited the most from an extended penis extension with increased girth.

Then I gave some additional background on why some couple might use the product this particular way in comparision to a couple attempting to use the product where the male cant get it up enough for a hollow extension to prove useful to them.
