New development on the sexual front in my house. I’ve always had the higher libido and to be quite honest at one point very recently I let it be know that I can’t continue the way we’ve been going. The wife had just fallen to a new low in sexual activity and we were going months without any intimacy. That was leading to depression, anger and resentment in our marriage.

Well, I’ve been on testosterone replacement for about 4 years now and I had seen many articles about women getting hormone replacement therapy. However my wife has had breast cancer and her oncologist and entire medical staff at the hospital is against any kind of HRT when breast cancer had been involved…. With the exception of a few coworkers, who have told her about a local clinic that specializes in HRT for women. The company the doctor uses is called Biote and it’s like bio-tee as in Biological Testosterone and it’s designed to give women a normal level of testosterone over 4 months with implanted pellets. So every 4 months or so she goes in a gets pellets inserted in her upper glute fat.

The decision to do this was not easy. We did lots of research and in the end she determined that she was more apt to have a cancer return having imbalanced hormones that with the Biote… so she embarked on this journey.

The end of this story is quite short… Tuesday evening we went out to dinner. As I was showering and getting ready (she had already done so), she texted me and told me to “hurry up cause the sooner we get to dinner the sooner we can get back to use the new sex swing!”

Just a quick update on HRT, since my wife who is 61 has started taking HRT treatment it has dramatically increased her libido.
The first office she went to, she used the testosterone cream and estrogen cream, that she had to apply at certain times in the morning. My wife likes to workout and walk the neighborhood in the morning so the creams were a pain to keep up with.
The second HRT office she went to is much more helpful and knowledgeable, so she went with the pellet they administer under the skin in the hip area. She doesn’t have to worry about when to do anything, because the pellet releases slowly into the blood stream.
The pellets have worked great, it only took a couple of weeks and she was already starting to get horny. It has been really nice that I don’t have to ask for sex all the time, because she is starting to initiate.
The other day we were flying back to San Antonio from Philly and she told me on the plane she was horny, she started rubbing my inner thigh and massaging my dick a little bit. Don’t worry the plane was pretty empty and we didn’t have anyone sitting next to us.
When we arrived in San Antonio it was 2:30am and by the time we got home it was 3am.

Welp, amazing what a short 6 months can do…

Wife’s on the fritz again. It had been a month or so before we went to putto Vallarta that we had had swx and at PV for a week we had sex twice… but it’s now been another month and no relations what so ever.

I’m in the fuck it all mode now!

Here’s my final thought on marital sexual relations… if she wants to fuck you she will… if she doesn’t she won’t. And st that point the only solution to her sex drive is the divorce button, cause I can guarantee you that if I gave her that out, she’d be banging everything that walked.

There's a lot more to HRT than Biote. I once had an endocrinologist tell me that testosterone for women just gives them pimples. My wife had to go to a few gynecologists to get estrogen HRT right, because HRT is complicated and all women are different. Now she's doing fine at age 79!

If she's depressed and won't get an appointment, call around to real gynecology practices (not one-size-fits-all places) and get her an appointment. Expect that estrogen experimentation will take some time while you're keeping your hand away from the D button.

I don't have much to add except to echo the comments from Martin6469. "HRT" is a catch-all that doesn't mean much without further clarification. The sex hormones are a complicated interdependent mess. It's dangerous to simplify, but I'll take the chance and broadly.say that estrogen (usually estradiol) should be evaluated for every post menopausal woman, just for her overall health with, perhaps, some indirect beneficial effects on libido. Pre-menopausal women actually have more testosterone than estrogen but it declines with age. Pumping up the testosterone is what will pump up her libido, but if she goes with super physiological doses the negative side effects of hair growth, acne, etc will appear. So, she should be tested and the doses carefully titrated over time to get to the right formula.

Some OB-GYN's are still wed to the debunked results from the 2002 WHI study and are HRT resistant. Hence the rise of these specialty, and super expensive, clinics. I'd have my wife search out an HRT positive OB-GYN that takes our insurance and put her trust in them.

I strongly recommend HRT for post-menopausal women who wish to continue having enjoyable sex. If prescribed correctly it will increase libido, vaginal moisture and overall pleasure. Many wives are resistant because of the debunked earlier study and because they are over sex. I recommend a female doctor who specialize in HRT.
