Looking for advice...

Postby Lucky46 » Thu Jul 05, 2012 7:58 pm

Hi Everyone,

I know I'm not the typical member here-being a men's forum-but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. My partner is a wonderful man who is a stage 4 prostrate cancer survivor. He had a radical prostatectomy and has a penile implant-which works great! I'm here because I'm hoping to learn from all of you how I may work on improving his quality of life-and sex is a big part of life! Any thoughts or advice would be most welcome. Thank you!

Dear Lucky,
I'm not sure which aspects of your partner's life are most affected , but I know that my wife's love was the one thing in our marriage that kept everything together. By you just being here shows how important he is to you. I can't offer much in the ways of dealing with this type of life challenging illness, but believe me there are plenty of guys here that have been down that road. Good luck to you and your husband on your journey back to normalcy, God Bless.
55 years old. ED since 2002 total venous leakage after penile fracture. Tried all the pills and injections all failed to help. Some success with VED, but felt too unnatural to both of us, seldom used. Implanted 06/21/12. Trying to wear IT out.

Lucky46,

You can read all of the chapters but pay attention to the chapters about Companions.

http://www.phoenix5.org/menumain.html
http://www.hisprostatecancer.com/prostate-cancer-4.html
http://dodsonandross.com/sexfeature/sex ... te-surgery

Can't hurt , might help.

And let me add a couple more thoughts. What ever sexual normal you had went out the window when cancer walked it. With cancer gone you now must find a "New Sexual Normal." A couple must get in the sex boat and row often to find that. This is NOT an easy task but oh so worth the trip.

Feedback is welcome, Jim

Foreplay!! it is a answer to most of the people trying to have enhanced sex. Foreplay is not the starting of sex, it is rather the foundation.

Love when the women get involved - not totally sure what your asking for. Partner has had prostatectomy, now post-penile implant surgery and it works well
as you said. Well, actually your asking for alot I believe. Glad the implant works well but that answers only one problem. The next horizon seems to be the hormone era. Testosterone for men and a plethora of hormones for women which by the way many clinicians shy away from. If desire, libido and sex drive is an issue....seek out an Endocrinologists who SPECIALIZES in sexual health. Also, I know your partner has the history of prostate cancer, but this does not mean that if his testosterone is low that supplemental testosterone is a no-no. It's all about management and follow-up care. Good luck - merlin
