Hi this is mikeheat a new member. had RP in mar. 2012 and have ED. Still have strong sexual desires but unable to perform. Did not fully realize at time of surgery that it would be so difficult. Found this website when researching penile implants. Hoping to both gain knowledge as well as add value to others.

Mike:

Welcome, this is a great place to rehab! Since you surgery was in March you are just getting started on the journey. One of the greatest things going for you is your strong sex drive. Right now that is a gift; and use him a much as you can. I am also PCa with robotic surgery and like you went into the operating room with no issue but came out with major ED; and my nerves were spared. Yeah- right. You will find a new normal and it takes time and a good sense of humor. Now, if I may, you can preform- it's just different. You can and probably do reach a climax without being hard. Keep at it. Please- as much as possible as it helps wake nerves and the boys up. And remember, as a wise man once told me: a man's biggest sex tool is his tongue. . . . Performance is varied but fun.

You are right in line for Penile Rehab. I suggest you begin to pump ASAP. Under the "Treatment Section" at "Pumping" there is a device called the "Prelude". That was my first tool when I got here and it is a great device. It is a very soft vac, works well, easy to use, not good for sex but it brings him to life and it is great to look down and see him rise again. It is not expensive. I used it for over a year even after I got a Medical pump as it is most comfortable and feels great. It comes in 2 sizes depending on your thickness not length. The company is wonderful to work with. Pumping is an over-time thing and works. Go slow but go. I now have 2 pumps; my Osbon Medical pump; Very expensive but excellent. At the suggestion of some guys here I also have a simpler pump, not adult toy store, to use as the med pump is quite heavy. The simpler pump will disconnect the cylinder from the pump so you can "wear" it around for short periods of time at full or almost hard while you do some thing else. It's kinda fun.

I have a Baylor medical Center Penile Rehab Protocol. It is published in a medical Journal and is amazingly through. I only have it in word; if you would like a copy please send me your e-mail thru a PM (Private Message). While this is a good site, it is not wise to just list your e-mail in a post. Suggest you study the Rehab Protocol and then discuss with your Uro and develop a plan. The only component it doesn't cover is the Viberect which is a new device and many of the guys here are having wonderful results. I don't have one yet but it is on my list of things to get soon.

Welcome and join the Chat Room when you can as ask ?'s.

Regards,

Dick

I didn't discover the Prelude until 3 1/2 years after my PCa surgery, which left me totally dysfunctional. Prior to getting the Prelude I had been doing some daily jelqing exercises to try to maintain penile viability (my doctor never told me to do anything), and using a pump with constriction rings about twice a week for intercourse. I now have been doing daily Prelude therapy for about 10 months: 15 minutes a day minimum, and longer if I have the time.

I’ve discovered a couple “tricks of the trade” which I can share, for other guys using the Prelude, or those who are about to start. One is to submerge the device in a basin of warm water for a few minutes before you start. This makes the Prelude much more pliable, and easier to get your dick pumped up so you can start the therapy. Also the temperature helps to open up blood vessels. Then I return it to the warm water about every five minutes during therapy to warm it up, make it pliable again, and rejuvenate the lubricant gel to get a better seal around the base of my shaft. Finally, when my 15 minutes are up, I take the Prelude into the shower with me. This gives me a few more minutes of therapy time, and serves to clean the gel out of the device. In the shower, you can use soap lather for lubricant, and you can fill the Prelude with warm water, then squeeze most of it out and insert your dick. I actually get a bigger erection inside the Prelude when using it this way in the shower.

When I have more therapy time available (I’ve done it sometimes for over an hour), I try to think about or look at something erotic while stroking with the Prelude, and see if I can edge myself. I try not to actually get off, since I want to save that for intercourse in the next day or two.
