Hey Everyone,
I want to say first that I am extremely glad I found this website in the past week and look forward to learning from the collective wisdom from the members here.
I have struggled with ED since I have been in my early 20s. My success rate for good, meaningful sex during that time was less than 50%. I did manage to get married somehow at the age of 27 and was prescribed Viagra. My sex life was fantastic for about 7 years after what seemed like decades of mind-boggling frustration, bewilderment, and confusion.
The pills stopped working as effectively after some time and coincidentally around that same time she had an affair with her boss. She cited "sex" as one of the issues for her leaving.
I am currently on the dating scene again and I feel like I am replaying my early 20's all over again with the frustration. I was prescribed Trimix and have used it one time. I have to say using the injection was nothing short of amazing... Long story short though, my erection didn't go down and I had to take a trip to the ER. The urologist told me not to experiment with Trimix any more and I have not. He stated that regardless of the amount of units I will probably wind up in the ER again. In retrospect I believe I injected too much (25 units). This was about 3 months ago now.
I have a consultation appointment with Urology Surgical Consultants in Northern Virginia on January 30th. I am strongly considering an implant. The ER visit was a horrific experience and not one I care to repeat.
Please feel free to give me advice on anything, as I really don't know what the hell I am doing. All I know Is that I have to do something because the current situation just isn't working out for me. Thanks again guys.

In my view, you should consult with another urologist about Trimix. It appears from your post that your urologist did not follow the usual protocol for a new Trimix user, which involves doing a test injection in the urologist's office to see if the initial dose is too high. If it is, there is an injectable medication, epinephrine, which the urologist can be use to counter act the Trimix. If I read your post correctly, you had to got to the ER yourself without any support from your urologist. In my view, a urologist who doesn't provide a proper initial Trimix test to a patient is not very competent. To me, this also means that his advice to never use Trimix is suspect. It would be useful if you could tell us what version of Trimix you used. What are the amounts of papaverine, phentolamine and PGE-1 in one milliliter?
71 years old in 2018; married 49 years. ED since 2001. PD5 inhibitors (Viagra, etc.) worked with increasing dosages until side effects got too bad by 2017. Now using Trimix injections. Delayed ejaculation has been a continuing problem since 2012.

An implant can be a terrific thing, I think. I guess I will find out. It’s been in there 3 weeks.
That being said, if it were me, and an injectable worked, I would use it.
From what you describe Trimix worked. A little too well. Trust me when I say that’s a better position to be in than when it no longer works.
If and when a guy has to go implant, that’s okay. They work. But there’s no turning back time. (My apologies to Cher)
Giving yourself a shot down there with an insulin syringe is a minor inconvenience. But if they can find the right strength/dosage, you might spare yourself a surgery. And yes, even though the experts all swear cycling is going to bring back some lost size, an implant is going to be smaller than a trimixed dick.
Bottom line is you have to do what you think is best, but one bad experience without medical supervision with Trimix is probably not sufficient reason to rule it out for future use.

Doubledaddy--
Yes, that is the information I was interested in. From my experience, this is a weak Trimix. In the order that I usually list the three terms, I would call this a 18-0.6-5.88 mix. For comparison, the usual starter mixes that I have seen would be written as 30-1-10. What I am using myself these days is 30-5-50, typically 10 to 15 units. The fact that you got into priapism with 25 units of your mix does indeed show that you are quite sensitive. In one sense, this is good--there is a medication that can really give you a phenomenal erection. However, as you found out to your horror, too much is a major problem. If this were my issue, I would find a different urologist and start in his office with a very low dose, probably only 1 or 2 units to convince myself that there is a lower limit that does not give a problem. If that low a dose does not give a problem, then the issue is slowly and carefully working up in dosage. My personal view approach is to explore all the other options before going for an implant, since there is no going back once that is done.

I know most of us have been down the same road as you.
I have to agree that you need to figure out how to get good results with injecting.
I'd also guess they will stop working eventually, but at least put off the inevitable implant surgery.
You will also need to monitor things closely to not get scarring or Peyronies.
Read as much as possible on these forums and you'll get a lot of good advice from experienced guys.
Good luck.
