Five weeks post implant

Postby bowdre » Wed Sep 12, 2012 9:57 pm

Hello, everyone.

I have been monitoring this site for a few weeks now. It has been extremely helpful to me as I prepared for my penile implant. My implant is a Tital OTR. I am very pleased with my doctor. Neil Baum, from New Orleans. As I write this 5 weeks post op, I am still having some pain, particularly on the left side of my penis, after inflation (every day 1 to 2 times per day), to the point that I have to deflate after about 5 minutes. Also, I am experiencing some increased swelling, again on the left side. I became alarmed, so I saw Dr. Baum earlier today regarding these concerns. He said that these issues are normal, and that everything will resolve in time.

I THINK that I made the right decision.

At this point, I am quite comfortable in inflating/deflating.

Again, I really appreciate all of the help that I have received from all of you. Thanks very much.

Welcome ... and congrats on your Implant ... drag out the Ibprofin and take one or two 30 min. prior to inflation. Also try pumping slightly less ... wait a while and add another pump, and continue ... in other words pump until uncomfortable rather than painful.

When you say "on the left side" ... where? In the tips ... along the shaft ... or at the bottom? Perhaps you have some (unknown) scar tissue that is painful when streached?

I was instructed not to start inflating my Titan OTR until 6 weeks post op. At 5 weeks you're still very early. When I started, moderate inflation was not painful, but inflating to the max was very painful. I could only take it for very short periods. After inflating daily for about 2 months, inflating to the max was not painful. However, even now, 7 months later, if I pump to the max and leave it that way for a while, 30 mins or longer, it will still start to ache a bit. Of course, pumping to the max is not necessary in any way for using it. Its just good therapy, I think, to do it for a little while each day to keep scar tissue from affecting the use.

Hi Bowdrie,

First, congratulations on your new Titan OTR Implant.
It is important to be patient during the healing process as the tissue in your body grows around the components of your
Implant. Eventually, it just becomes part of you.
I was implanted with the Coloplast Titan in December 2007 after developing ED Post-Prostatectomy in 2004.
The Titan completely corrected my ED and restored both my sex life and the emotional bond with my wife.
I wish the same for you my friend.
Please keep us posted on your progress.

Bob

Hey Bowdre,
Congratulations on your implant... I'm 12 weeks out and still get a little discomfort when I inflate completely, but I do it twice a day as instructed. I have most discomfort on the right side of mine. Where I know I have a great deal if scar tissues to break up. I inflate to just a little discomfort wait a few minutes then inflate some more. Once I get to the max I leave it for about an hour...I used to be really sore afterwards, but its no where near pain now. Just give it time it gets better.
55 years old. ED since 2002 total venous leakage after penile fracture. Tried all the pills and injections all failed to help. Some success with VED, but felt too unnatural to both of us, seldom used. Implanted 06/21/12. Trying to wear IT out.

Hi Bluis6214 ---

I'm about three weeks out and just started pumping regularly this past Friday (yay!!!!) ----- was interested in your post about pumping as I'm still trying to figure a lot of this out. How do you know when you've reached "the max"? After about five pumps, I don't notice any big difference in the hardness. Will it get harder if I wait a bit and then pump more? Thanks.
58 yrs.; history of long term ED --- recently figured out this was due to chronic venous leak; implant of AMS 700 ultrex on 8.27.2012 @ Brigham and women's hospital, Boston MA

Congrats on your new Implant ... basically pump until you can no longer squeeze the pump ball. Now don't pump until it hurts ... but just until it's uncomfortable, then wait a while. While you are waiting ... massage your member, then repeat. Add a pump or two and massage ...
