About 3 mos ago, during intercourse I suffered a very abrupt loss of erection during intercourse. I had always strong erections my entire adult life until now, I'm 41.This "event" didn't involve any pain at the time but it has compromised my erections since. I did have some pains in the 2 months following this event, but the most noticeable result is a loss of feeling or sensation in the penis when flaccid. I saw a urologist who did a doppler scan, he said my test results was consistent with a veinous leak. The test was administered while I was no more than one third erect which leaves me with doubts. This diagnosis also doesn't necessarily explain this loss of sensation and feeling. I'm on 5 mg cialis, I can get an erection with a great deal of more effort than I used to. Haven't tried intercourse yet.
Has anyone else had a doppler and been diagnosed with a veinous leak? What were the symptoms like? I'm going for more tests, possibly another doppler and nuerological tests. If I do have a leak, I want to know why I've lost so much sensation. Any experience with definite veinous leaks or a a loss of sensation when flaccid would be very helpful. Thank and best wishes to all....

Re: Veinous Leak
I have a venous leak after a penile fracture... but I never lost any sensation though. I was diagnosed with venous leak during a,doppler exam. Your loss of sensation sounds more like a nuerological problem. To do the test my penis was injected with 20 units of Edex and when that didn't bring on an erection they gave me 20 more. All I got then was a spongey chubby, but nothing else. Did they give you something to bring on an erection? If they did and you still didn't get one, I would bet you do have a leak as well as some kind of nerve damage. Good luck. I hope you get some answers soon... not knowing where to begin is hell. Once I found out what I had, opted for an implant, and after 12 weeks, my wife and I are very happy.
55 years old. ED since 2002 total venous leakage after penile fracture. Tried all the pills and injections all failed to help. Some success with VED, but felt too unnatural to both of us, seldom used. Implanted 06/21/12. Trying to wear IT out.
Re: Veinous Leak
Two years at age 74 I was able to function with Viagra’s help once or twice a week and had great ejacs. Now after beam radiation and seeding I have gone downhill a lot. I use Cialis 5 mg daily for rehap and use 100 mg Viagra for the event. But my hardness does not last real long and I have concluded that it is due to leak – not diagnosed by a Dr. but by everything I have read. But Viagra does work long enough for me to get off by receiving oral or JO. Thankfully my wife cooperates and oral works for both of us. My biggest complaint is that now my ejac does not have much feeling. And JO seems to provide the best sensation – but not remotely like it was before treatment.
Had external beam radiation and brachytherapy 2010 with some ED soon after. Viagra works, Some loss of sensation at times but overall sex has returned We are very oral and that helps a lot.

A simple at home test ... using VED (vacuum pump) pump up for several minutes until erect. Release the pressure and watch your erection ... does it fade slowly, or does it quickly go back to flaccid state?
If "quickly" then most likely you have a venous leak ... however some "leaks" are minor and given your age quite normal. To compensate for the leak, try using a constriction ring after using VED to help maintain your erection. See the "Pumps" section here for more info ...

The loss of sensation is most likely due to "radiation and seeding" ... not much you can do about that. This is the trade-off many of us make when diagnosed with prostrate related problems. I'm sure your URO discussed this with you prior to treatment ... although they seem to paint a rosy picture about the outcome.

Is this really a valid test? If so, I must have a gusher. As soon as I release the vacuum it deflates. Within a minute the dark color is gone and I look like I did before I pumped. Stimulation makes very little difference.

Re: Veinous Leak
Thanks guys: Information about leaks and lack of feeling is always appreciated. Even if I cannot do something about all of it, just knowing is important.
Re: Veinous Leak
My trimix works like a charm, so I don't think I have venous leakage. However, little Gregory does indeed deflate considerably when I release the vacuum on the pump. It doesn't go totally limp, but certainly does not retain all the blood that has been artifically pumped in by the vacuum. I'd say it goes from a blue veiner to a chubby. So I don't think immediate deflation is necessarily a sign of venous leakage, but a natural result of releasing the vacuum.
Just my thoughts.

You still retained a "chubby" ... in many cases including myself, I didn't even get that. There are varing degrees of venous leak ... while yours may be minor given the fact that Injections work for you. Others are severe enough that even Injections do not work ...

Trimix gives me a chubby no matter how much I inject. I've even tried a full 100 units. All it did was give me a long lasting aching chubby. The only thing that works for me is to pump up a little, snap on a ring, inject 20 units, massage it in a little, remove the ring, fool around a with the little women for a while and when I'm ready to try I pump it up and snap the ring back on and go for it. We often just have limp sex because it take a lot of time and planning otherwise.
I can't wait until next spring when I'm completely free of my business and can take the time off for a medical implant vacation.
