Greetings all,
I’m a 65 year old fart with ED. Have had it for about 10 or 12 years, probably due to Type II diabetes, and obesity. I got the obesity under control with a gastric bypass in Sept. 2008. The diabetes is controlled with daily injections of VICTOZA. Have used Viagra for about the last six years. It worked great in the beginning, giving reliable erections firm enough for penetration, and lasting for 5 to 10 minutes.
Then, in December of 2009, was diagnosed with an invasive ductile carcinoma, (breast cancer, HER2 positive and also with a mutated BRCA2 gene), had a radical mastectomy of left breast(thus a “one boobie newbie”) in January of 2010, Chemo-therapy from April to June, 2010 and then began a five year course of TAMOXIFIN which is an estrogen blocker. So far, I seem to be cancer free.
After the chemo was finished, perhaps because of it, or perhaps the TAMOXIFIN, or perhaps not, my Viagra assisted erections began to dissipate very quickly, lasting only a minute or two. The initial erection remained hard enough, just wouldn’t last long enough to get the job done. So we had a lot of failures at intercourse, but thanks to a wonderful, understanding wife of 42 years, we overcame them with other sexual activity and methods.
Anyway, today I saw my urologist about the possibility of starting injection therapy. He suggested trying stronger doses of Viagra (100 mg) and gave me samples of Cialis, Staxyn (vardenafil hydrochloride) and MUSE. He suggested I try all of them up to their maximum doses and when they are all gone, if I am happy with any one of them he will give me a prescription for it and if I’m not happy with any of them he will start me on injection therapy.
Even though I have no fear of needles or injecting into the penis (after all, I inject daily now but into tummy fat tissue), I like his approach and plan. So, I will try to post as I go along this new journey of increasingly severe ED. It’s really great to have this support her on this site from guys with similar problems. It’s just like my breast cancer support group where I can meet monthly with a bunch of beautiful women, be the only guy there and we talk about BOOBS. How can it get any better than that?
By the way if anyone has experience with the STANYX I would love to hear about it.
Later,
One Boobie Newby

Yep, your doctor is doing it exactly right: less invasive to more invasive. My team did the same thing. The only step they didn't recommend was pumping. But I tried every oral med combo before moving onto injections. Now I'm a happy pricksticker. Best wishes for great success, wherever you may find it.
