New guy from Georgia-Scheduled for 10/24/13

Postby franklambe » Wed Oct 16, 2013 8:57 pm

Hello, 38 yr old male from Ga. waiting to have implant done on October 24th and I am really apprehensive about the pain that I will have after the procedure. I am 38, married, type 2 diabetic that takes insulin. Have had ED for about 4 years now due to diabetes. Have tried pills, injections, vacuume device and now I have decided on implant. Wife is very supportive and we have had fun in other ways, but slowly the emotional & mental strain of not feeling like a real an that can perform and missing that intimacy has taken a toll on me. My attitude has changed for the worse and I'm always on edge.

I found this site by accident and it is awsome! You guys really are supportive and have answered many questions for me. I thank you all for it!!

Have my pre-surgical consult/testing this morning and I think he said the stretch test. I am shorter than I was a couple of years ago by about an inch. Have been using vacuum device the past month and has helped I think. Doctor told me it was more for enlargement of the chambers and to get some skin/tissue stretching.

For me the pain was not that big an issue. However, I did not have a scrotal incision. I stayed in the hospital overnight for IV antibiotics and pain management then drove home over 200 miles the next day. I was moderately uncomfortable the first week and recommend taking two weeks off from work. I hope your surgery goes perfectly.
I am sixty-six years of age and dealing with gradually worsening ED for twenty years. At sixty-three I wanted something that worked reliably. I got an AMS 700 LGX implant in 6/25/13. I am entirely pleased with the outcome. My surgeon was Dr. Karpman.

franklambe,
The pain is not that bad ... you will be badly swollen and skin discolored for a while. The first few days may require some pain meds, then Ibuprofen after that to reduce swelling. Ice packs really help the first week or so ... after that just take it slow as with your diabetes your recovery time will be longer than most.

Start on a stool softener the day of surgery, as it takes several days for your first "movement" ... also consider a inflatable donut seat cushion. I still use mine every day. Good luck on your surgery and keep us posted as to your progress ...
