Hope

Postby DudeinFL » Tue Aug 27, 2024 1:39 pm

Hello folks,

1st great to be part of a community where we can all share experiences and/or relate to one another. Previous to this it was a lonely, and depressing journey.

A little about me, I'll keep it short, but its been (and still is a journey).

After numous treatments for ED, I finally got the surgery it was an AMS product. Couple things about this.

1. I lost 4 inches of length, no I wasn't super big, only 8
2. It broke after 1.5 years

I complained to my Dr and he told me there's nothing to be done about. This totally killed any motivation to spark up any type of sexually related anything. Once it broke and my Dr confirmed that the surgery would need to be redone, I figured it ok so I'll regain some of my size, where he shot that down.

Anyhow during all this I changed jobs, which includes medical coverage. I had started shopping around with other Drs only come to find out my current insurance doesn't cover these processes, it's cosmetic according to them.

I've decided that I'll just take out a loan to skip all the hassle.

So yeah that's my story, I've been in some dark parts of my mind and hoping I can find good recommendations so I can enjoy sex once again. Apologies for the long story.

Hello and glad you found FT. So much info here to learn!
You need to find a new doctor. Sorry about the insurance thing. Although it is not cosmetic, you have a broken part that needs fixed. Maybe your next doc can straighten them out. A good doc will have a billing department that knows how to dance around insurance companies.
Don't give up because it can have bad effects on the mind.

Hello :)

If 8 inches aint big then I don't know what is. Anyways, 2 questions:

1) How big were you pre-op? 4 inches is a HUGE loss and it sounds like it comes from years of untreated ED / untreated Peyronie's. You might have been undersized, but you haven't mentioned dealing with so-called 'floppy glans'.
2) Were you using VED pre-op and cycling post-op? Did your doctor inform you about these things?

If answer to the second question is NO then I'd run away from that doc.
28 y/o, Poland, ED after heavy metal poisoning
Corporal fibrosis after ED - Traction + VED to regain size - seeing great results
Lost 1"L 0.5"G. Regained all length and 0.2"G.
Making money to afford implant, meanwhile trying everything else

So I was 8 inches pre op, and yes we discussed the gains/losses post op. He basically told me everyone is different and he wouldn't know until the surgery, but told loss of 2 inches could be possible. I was ok with the trade-off cause that's fine and at least the average length. I mean I'll take 6 now.

I'm not sure what VED pre-op and cycling post-op are, going to assume "no" for that.

Yeah I'm going to ask in the implants category of the forum if there's a list of Dr's folks recommend in my state or any state. I'm willing to travel at this point.

VED is a vacuum pump device for your dick ...pulls blood into it to create an erection .. you do it like exercise's to keep the penile tissue stretched out from having ED. I did it for 6 weeks before my surgery and I think it helped .. where are or where were you measuring this 8 inches from .. bone pressed into the pubic bone on top of your penis?

Before we get too far into any discussion, we need to establish something:

1. I lost 4 inches of length, no I wasn't super big, only 8
2. It broke after 1.5 years

A guy with 8” erection is in the 99.99th percentile in terms of penis size. Yes, I know, they are out there. But they’re rare. Depending on whose study you believe the average (or mean) BPEL (bone pressed erect length) is either 5.16”, 5.17”, or 5.5”. So yes, 8 is super big.

To go from 8” to 4” defies belief. I’m not sure how a doctor could fuck things up that badly.

A couple of questions for the poster:

What implant (brand name, size, and # of RTEs) did the doctor use? Typically, a guy with 8” would need between 27 and 30 cm of implant. The doctor or hospital is required to give a data card to recipients of any prosthetic.

I’m just at a loss. I started out pre-surgery just shy of 7” (6.85). On my worst day after surgery I still had 4 3/4”. And with healing and use it all came back. No VED. No therapy. Just pump it up and fuck or pump it up and jack off.

My surgeon said he would put as much implant in as he safely could but that worst case patients might see a loss of 1/4” to 1/2”. He basically set my expectations then proceeded to exceed them.

But 4 inches? WTF?

Yeah so not sure of size or any of those measurements, I do know it's an AMS.

The one thing that was pretty telling was at my post op, the assistant was there before the Dr walked in and was showing me how to use the pump. When I pumped it to the max the assistant told me "you still got more, squeeze it a couple more times" and I could it was at max level. He then took over and when he found out his face totally changed. At that point the Dr walked in and thats where I was like it was more than 2 inches you shaved. He just used big words and at that point I was just thinking bad things, not towards him but on me.

I was very vague intentionally, I'm not sure of the rules if it's allowed for me to state his name and where I got the procedure done.

If it's allowed and there's a collective list of Drs to stay away from I'll gladly contribute there.

I can understand vague. I’m not a lawyer (I’ve told folks in here previously than I’m not a doctor).

I do know the following, however.

There is no defense against “is it the truth?”

It’s not defamation if you state something as your opinion rather than fact.

But before I got on my high horse and called in a plague of frogs and pestilence on the original doctor, I would go see one of THE nationally renowned guys.

Assuming you are in Florida per the screen name, I think what I would do is gather up copies of my medical records and go to Atlanta and see Dr. Hakky. That’s just me, and I’d do it that way because it’s drivable. Dr. Clavell in Houston would be another good choice. There’s nobody more renowned at implants than Dr. Eid in NYC but he’s not young and if your case requires time to fix there’s always a possibility he might retire.

I often encourage folks to find good surgeons locally when they can because there are a decent number of really good surgeons doing implants. Obviously you found one whose performance was questionable. So to unscrew what has been done and then do it right my advice is choose one of the truly big names.

I understand also about the insurance. Let the doctor fight that out with the insurance carrier before you say yea or nay. A revision to repair an improperly done procedure is unlikely to be viewed as cosmetic. Also in your consult you might learn things were done so poorly as to be actionable in court.

Regardless. Good luck. I’ll be damned if I can figure out any way this could have occurred.
