Just arrived
Hello all, Ithis is my first visit to this site. I am a 64 year old gay guy from Brighton, East Sussex UK. I have had erectile disfunction for about ten years. At first I had difficulty achieving erections but with a little extra effort, I did. As things progressed, things became worse so that I managed an erection only sporadically and had difficulty achieving orgasm. In the meantime, every two years, I had a PSA blood test but until 2010 these proved negative. In 2010, my PSA went to 1 on the scale used. So, I had another test the following year which this time showed a score of 4. I was put through various procedures and was eventually diagnosed with prostate cancer for which, with advice, I had an operation to completely remove my prostate. Since the operation, I have never had a complete erection. In the first few months, I was given medication, including Cialis, but without success and after a few months I gave up. I can obtain a near-erection and a form of orgasm from time to time, but only if I use my left hand (I am right-handed, and I find this aspect very odd) while watching a porn film. My partner accepts the situation, and we never have sexual intimacy as my sexual reactions are not really 'useful' for sex as a couple. So, while on the one hand I just get on with life, I feel the black hole in my life where sex used to be.

CH,
I feel for your situation, having gone thru a prostatectomy also with zero natural results with or without meds afterwards (but 5 years 0.0 PSA !). But I have had all the erections I could ever want starting from using a pump and thru injections -- pretty simple.
But have you tried using a pump and rings? Often that is a protocol that you should have been using all along after surgery just to keep things going, engorged, expanded, exercised, stretched etc.
What about using EDEX or CAVERJECT systems for PGE-1 injection? I understand UK does not do Trimix but plain PGE-1 based injections are available thru NHS, right?
Lastly would be an implant -- any thoughts on that? A last resort, but guys who get one say that should have done it sooner. Probably a long wait to get one in UK tho, right? Or even just to get to SEE someone who could authorize it.
Has your Uro or Doctor discussed any of the above with you? Thought that National Health was a lot better than what we have here in the states -- except for the long wait times for some things.
get back to us with any details ...

Re: Just arrived
I suggest that you get your doctor to refer you to an erectile dysfunction clinic at one of your local hospitals to evaluate your situation. I did this about 20 months ago ( Northampton Hospital is nearest to me) and after some discussion started on Caverject (PGE1). Once we had sorted out the correct dose, complete success - I have now injected about 180 times without a single failure - a good firm erection for at least one hour. Free under the NHS but usually only 4 per month. Unlike the pills you do not have to wait for it to work. In my case less than 5 minutes to full erection and, as a bonus, my girth has increased from 4.75 to 5.25 inches. You do not have to worry it just works every time.
80 year old Type2 diabetic, long term ED, pills then injections PGE1. After 4 years they became less effective. Implanted 20/3/2018 by NHS. AMS 700 CX 15+4 cm with MS pump. Never had any significant pain. Still working perfectly and used regularly.

Re: Just arrived
Thank you for your rapid, friendly and helpful responses. One thing I omitted from my original posting is that I have been unwell with three other, separate and unrelated conditions since my prostate op and these have delayed me getting on with sorting out the ED. The information you have given me I will discuss with both my GP and my urologist. Regarding the NHS, I find that its responsiveness to all my health needs is very fast. Perhaps there are areas of the country where this is not the case, but here the system works very well.

Hi and welcome to a fellow Brit.
The group has so many people with so much experience and I can honestly say that I was helped in my decisions so much by reading and chatting on here.
I had my Prostate Surgery when I lived in Brighton back in 2008 and come back often to visit so if you ever fancy a coffee/beer and a chat just let me know.
All the best
Dave
