Hi, everyone.
Had the AMS 700 LGX (21 cm) installed 6 days ago. Still lots of pain and discomfort when standing up or walking around, pretty much the same as the day of surgery (now without Percocet), so I'm laying down most of the time.
It was a very long journey before I was comfortable with this solution. Never liked the idea of an artificial device inside my body, especially in my genitals. My testicles have always been very sensitive to touch so the pump placement was the biggest obstacle, and I expect this to be a continual challenge over the next couple of months.
I know everyone's journey is different, but I'm very interested in hearing about people's recovery experience. In the past I've been an endurance athlete (biking 100 miles, swimming 6+ miles) but I don’t expect to be able to regain that level of fitness for a long time. For now, I'm looking forward to being able to work in my backyard (maintaining my pond, building a second pond, etc). Bike accident with a hit-and-run driver (four broken vertebrae) allowed me to go backwards and get totally out of shape in the meantime, but I'm finally motivated to no longer let that hold me back.
Deciding to regain an active sex life and get back into top physical shape are all part of the same movement forward psychologically and physically. Only moving forward at this point. Thanks, guys!

Re: New guy asking about recovery experience and vigorous exercise
Hi Anthony,
Welcome to the bionic brotherhood
. I have the identical implant type and size. It sounds like you did your due diligence very well before going ahead. Yes, recovery can be rough at times but you will get there. You are in the "WTF have I done?" stage. Don't be disillusioned by any negative things that might happen over the coming weeks and months. In most cases they are very temporary and eventually become a distant memory. The usual advice is to take any required pain medication proactively to stay ahead of it, rather than waiting until the pain hits you and playing catch up. Ice is frequently recommended at this stage. I used it for a short period but wasn't a great fan. Everyone is different but I found a hot shower to be more soothing for discomfort.
I'm also a former amateur endurance athlete, running marathons and other events. Unfortunately I can no longer run as I had a knee replacement a few years ago. I'm still quite active though and do some reasonably strenuous hiking, cycling and so on post implant. And plenty of DIY maintenance around the house. At my age I'm not even considering getting back to the level of fitness I once had. Too much hard work for one thing! But I'll continue to be as active as I can for as long as I can.
Like most of us you will likely come to love your implant once everything heals and settles in. In my experience it eventually feels very natural and like part of your body. Sex has never been better for me once I was pain free
.
I had a similar journey to make a decision, but definitely no regrets other than not doing it sooner.
Best wishes with your recovery. Please keep us informed of progress and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
The Implants section is best for that as it gets more traffic. I'm also happy to answer private messages.
You can read my own journey in the posts below up until around 12 months post op, should it help:
