I'm Back looking for a new kind of help.

Postby shooter1000 » Thu Apr 16, 2015 10:44 pm

I was on the site for quite a while as Shooter 500. I had a lot of experience with injections and I hope I was able to help out some of the newbies (over 1000 now). My prostate cancer came back after 6 years with Zero PSA. I was lucky to catch it when I changed internists and the did a mid year PSA. The velocity was scary. Doubling every 8 weeks...very aggressive stuff equal to a gleason score 10. I had 40 Radiation treatments at the Brown Cancer Center. My Oncologist convinced me that I would have a much better chance of a cure if we added hormone deprivation therapy. As much as I hated to do it. I chose life. Side effects have been minimal, and the tumor is mush. He says 80% likelyhood that I am cured.
Now the bad part. I have had a total loss of libido, and significant atrophy of my penis. The Tri Mix still works, but not nearly as well. I get my last Lupron shot next week. I should begin to get testosterone back by summer, but much damage has been done. I am considering an implant and hope to get a lot of help on here. I want to be ready when my libido returns.
This has been an incredible learning experience. I went from the horniest guy on the planet to not caring in about 8 weeks. Testosterone rules us. It is amazing.

71 LRP 2006 40 targeted radiation treatment w Lupron ADT 2014...I would do the same again no regrets

You might want to wait and see what happens with your libido. I got an implant in 2008 following years of ED, plus a stroke. My libido was waning before the implant, and by the time I healed from the surgery my libido was zero, due to the stroke according to all of my doctors. Despite lots of medical intervention (T therapy, exams) the libido never returned and the prognosis is that it never will. So I have a perfectly functioning implant that I have never used and likely never will (I have no sexual desire or interest at all, and my wife lost interest years ago during my long struggle with ED and after menopause). If your libido doesn't return there's probably no point in going through implant surgery.

Dave,

Thanks for that reply. I have been thinking that I should use a vacuum pump to try to keep Mr. Happy as healthy as possible until I find out what happens after the ADT shots wear off. Then if I need it, go for the implant.

Pumping is a good idea - keep the tissue healthy and stretched to maximize the possibility of a successful outcome. Best of luck to you - losing your sex life is not the worst thing in the world, but if you can keep it so much the better.
