Hello. I found this site just a few days ago and found much of the information here useful. Just a little abount my self; I am four months post RRP at Indiana University Medical Center for prostate bx of a Gleason Score 3+4=7 prostate cancer. I have been healing well and was continent in less than a month after the catheter was removed. Cancer all contained in the prostate seems like related to the cancer I had a good result. MD talked a little about penile rehab post op. I was prescribed 5mg cialis one per day. I have been using VED once a day for the last three months. Thus far nothing in the erection department. The reality of dealing with the cancer and then the surgery as mine had many complications as I bled post op required three units of blood, then developed a fluild collection and perineal infection from the fluid reuired placement of drain for a month. Then three weeks after the drain was removd develop an E. coli infection in the urinary tract required a month of IV antibiotic therapy.

However, physically am doing pretty good now back at work, walking 4 to 5 miles a day and back to mowing township cemetaries plus the work on my small farm. Just took my youngest son back to college at Bulter Univerity at Indianapolis. The reality of living with the after effects of the RRP now seem enormous as I thought I would have some ED but not prepared for zero erectal response. Local urologist prescribed prostaglandin injections they hurt like hell but like produce an erection very close to pre surgery now going to try trimix trust it will work better.

Little more just about me I am 52 years old married 29 years, three sons live in west central Indiana, own a small farm but work as a Nurse Manager of a Surgery Unit in East Central Illinois. The ED difficult subject to discuss with most the folks I interact with each day and not one that I am open to discuss with most folks. Trust this site will be a good one to ask for advise and help with the ED that I seemed to be faced with now. Well bye for now hope to hear from those with similar experinces that I have had. God Bless!

SA4956: Welcome to FT. It has been a site for great help to do many of us guys. There is lots of info on the site and great guys for you to bounce ideas on. Sound like your Dr is on target with the 5mg of Cialis this early.. The new thought is to get that bad boy working as soon as possible. I know of a guy that is on injections at 8wks out to stimulate the nerves.

Do not hesitate to ask questions.. Wide range of experience here. So many great guys all with the same issues.

Welcome!

This is a very good place. I am also PCa victim and interestingly had my robotic surgery at the IU Med Center. As you are finding it is a new world after surgery and finding our new normal takes time. While I continue to give the med ctr great reviews for surgery process I still believe they are seriously lacking in an appreciation for penile rehab. But the experiences on this site is like having a top level rehab center at your disposal.

If there is anything I can do please let me know. I live In Indy but was raised on a farm about an hour north of Indy. Now, I would observe that only being 4 months post surgery is early and not having much response in not unusual. I assume that your sex drive has returned (YEAH!!) so use it as often as possible and do some stretching as often as possible- especially when he is warm- especially as and after you shower and as you awaken in the morning. As you may be finding there is plenty of pleasure in a climax even without being hard. Go for it!!

For those of us with PCa surgery, the 5 mg will probably not do much. The idea of using the pill to reawaken is solid but I would begin to combine those puppies into 10 mg every other day or try a 20 mg on occasion. Now, I'm not medical and if there is a reason to stay at 5 mg please do so. I would suggest you have a very Frank talk with your doc during your next visit and ask for another approach and additional guidance for regaining function. Injections can be managed and they should not hurt. It seems many of us who have had the PCa surgery can have a real pain issue with injections. Like a good bar, the doc can change the formula and the cocktail/shot should be better. Talk with Jeff on this site as he is very good with assistance on injections.

This site teaches us we have to fight for ourselves on this one. If you would like to talk let me know and we can. Join in the chat room as there is a great deal of humor, assistance and good bawdy humor available. Also, ask ?'s and engage to learn and find support.

Regards,

Dick
