Hello Gentlemen,
54 years old, single. Live in California. Using PDE5 inhibitors, (mainly cialis) for a number of years. I get erections but they are not consistently firm or long lasting. I am tired of physically and psychologically depending on these meds. I am in excellent health, except for my ED. Fitness has always been a priority in my life.
I have a history of penis enlarging surgeries. I now realize I was a bit overly concerned with my size (from watching too much porn probably). None of this helped my ED and may have contributed to it. I should have been focusing more with the decreasing quality of my erections than the flaccid size…
I decided I needed an actual diagnosis of my problem; the cause and hopefully a cure. I had been on propecia for a number of years, and thought perhaps that was to blame or a factor.
I had an appointment with Irwin Goldstein, M.D. for a complete workup at his sexual medicine clinic. The procecia (and its effect on DHT) isn’t the problem.. Labs are all normal. Problem: blood flow… fibrosis, sclerosis, low velocity and insufficiency.
Dr Goldstein said I need an implant. The next day I found this site.
The information here has been invaluable. I plan on become a contributing member as I explore the implant option. Thanks.
Adam

Welcome aboard! Many of us have gone through the process you describe and have opted for the implant. If you decide to go that route you can get many questions answered here. If you decide on the implant it's very unlikely you'll regret the decision.
Good luck!

Thanks Dave. It was quite a blow. I really didn't even consider it. I knew nothing about IPPs. I came home from the appointment, started to feel a little sorry for myself. Then figured I would look up "IPP" and here I am. Thanks again. I also obtained a "second opinion" from Edward Karpman, M.D. I found him from this board.

Re: New Member Intro
Dr. Karpman is my surgeon. He's great.
I am sixty-six years of age and dealing with gradually worsening ED for twenty years. At sixty-three I wanted something that worked reliably. I got an AMS 700 LGX implant in 6/25/13. I am entirely pleased with the outcome. My surgeon was Dr. Karpman.

I have experienced permanent sexual side effects from Propecia for the last 10+ years. I won't bore you with the entire story, but I have experienced perseistent severe erectile dysfunction, less sensitivity, less ejacualted, less ejacualte velocity, less intense orgasms, etc. I was a perfectly happy, healthy, for twenty something when I started taking this poison. It should be banned.

Dear Friend,
Welcome to the board. I'm 52 and similar story like yours but had rectal cancer and all the treatments to successfully get rid of it.
Implant seems to be working for many men here and I will not haditate to get it if and when it gets to that point. Currently I'm using injections successfully and I'm amazed by the results. I encourage you to look into this option before you enter the final frontier.
If you decide to try injections definitely get The Autoimject El to save you the trouble of failed injections and discomfort. Check out the injection group and ask any questions you may have.
Whatever you decide all the best for you.

Adam, welcome from the Canadian Connection. I am a young guy like you and although my surgeries were not for size, surgeries is the big contributor to me needing an implant. I have tried the injections, daily Cialis plus Cialis just before sex, Viagra and double dose Viagra, and finally an implant which had to be removed because of septic shock. I go back in November for a second attempt. Lookin forward to your posts.
