Frank Talk Admin wrote:You definitely need a new doctor. Higher hematocrit levels are very common for men on testosterone. the usual treatment is a therapeutic phlebotomy...in other words, donate blood regularly and keep hydrated. What kind of doctor do you have? where do you live? You have a right to have a libido and you have a right to have erections. Both are VERY attainable.

I live in Franklin, TN. I went to the phlebotomist once and my hemacrit level was a little higher even afterwards. A 56. I know that means something is wrong with me because they’re sending me to a hematologist but the way they are talking is scaring me. They’ve stopped injections, I feel horrid, and then on top of it scaring me with this hematologist. Now I’ve looked up hematologist and I’m freaking out. I’ve always had consistently good blood work throughout my life until now. I don’t know if I should be freaking out. They never discussed with me what a hematologist does, what they’re looking for, etc. I go to a hematologist site and see stuff like leukemia, kidneys shutting down, etc on my own. It seems like they would transition you more smoothly. I don’t know. I’m just worrying myself to death. But I guess that’s on me. Anyway, thanks for everybody’s previous responses. I’m trying to figure out how to use this board

Think partner put shot in wrong place as I still have some pain from needle!

This has been going on for 10 years and I just think the care I’m getting shoddy. They can’t get me up to normal levels because my blood work won’t allow it. I started testosterone shots 3 years ago. My interest in sex came back, but I can’t get an erection. It’s been 10 years and is humiliating. My blood work is bad so they can’t increase testosterone.
Now my red blood cell count has gone up and I had to quit testosterone shots. My interest in sex disappeared again and I feel just awful. Extremely tired and depressed. I’m supposed to wait another 6 weeks to see if red blood cell count goes down. If it doesn’t I have to see a hematologist.?Does this mean I have to suffer without testosterone forever? No desire? No erections? I feel like my doctor hasn’t been very good. I’ve only seen him once in the 3 years since I was sent to see him.
I’m concerned about the red blood cell count, what it means, does going to see a blood disease doctor mean there’s something serious going on? Can somebody give me advice? Thanks
