Greetings

New Kid on the Block,

Greetings guys. I came across this website after doing a search two days ago for forums that speak on the issue of ED and especially penile implants. You see I have just joined the ranks of, as Dave48003 puts it, the ‘Brotherhood of Bionic Boners’, I love that image Dave for it has been so long since I had one myself. This past Monday, February 13th, I had a penile implant installed in the old boy as he was tired and could not work any longer. I am 57 years old, just turned 57 on the 5th of February, so I guess you could say this surgery was a birthday gift for me and a Valanitnes gift for my wife, even though she cannot up-wrap it for at least six weeks.

I have struggled with ED for well over six years. If I were to be honest it was more like ten years when I first started to notice a change taking place; here is my story.

It all started out with a lack of hardness noticed from time to time when my wife and I had sex. That progresses over the next few years until I developed a lack of trust in my ablility to preform when the time came for my boy to ‘stand up’ to the test. That first time I went through the lack of ability to achieve an erection hard enough to enter my wife was a real blow to my confidence. I remember hearing a joke when I was a teen that I never thought could become true in my life, the joke went like this.

“Two men were talking in the bar one night and the one said to the other, ‘I have started to enjoy that second session of sex more than the first session.’ The second guy was stunned as he never heard someone make such a claim so he responded, ‘You mean to tell me that you get more pleasure out of the second time around with sex then the first?’ The first man answered him, ‘Sure, the first time is in July when it is so hot and it just makes everythings so messy but that second time comes around December when it is much cooler and I am able to enjoy the sex much more.’”

The thought of having the second time of having sex mean only having sex twice a year instead of two times in one evening was an unbelievable notion to me as a teen. However, as I slid down the ED curve I went way past the twice a year joke. I started to masturbate almost exclusively as I knew I did not have what it would take to satisify my wife. May I say that in all of this my wife was very supportive and she never hounded me about us not having sex. She remained faithful to me even though I could not give her what a husband should give his wife. We talked about it every so often but even those declined in number as time passed. I still needed to relieve myslef as my desire did not decline with the ED, only the ablility to relieve myself with my wife. As I said, masturbation became a regular part of my life, even daily at times. Then I stated to notice that even in masturbation my boy was not staying hard until I reached climax, in fact I stated to reach climax and shoot my load without ever getting hard at all. That is when I think I hit bottom and I knew I needed to do something.

This brought me to about three months ago. I started to search online for whatever help I could find from whatever sourse I could find. I will say that for the last five to six years I have tried all the ‘natural’ pill’ and prescription pills, all the treatments and off-the-wall promises that products said would bring my wood back once again but with no help. I spent a lot of money on these things which did nothing but make my wallet lighter. So when I went online three months ago I was way past any fly-by-night promise that all those products give, I was looking for something different. I found that the only two things I had not tried was the Muse and the injections.

I went to the doctor once again, the first time I went to a doctor was about two years ago and that doctor did not want to even talk about ED. This time the new doctor was willing to set down with me and ask the hard guestion that needed to be answered so that I could find out what was going on. He sent me for blood-work and he had me try the max in Virgra (100mg per pill). All the blood work came back as ok and the only thing hard that Virgra gave me was a hard headache, the worst one I ever had. He then said he would like to refer me to a urologist for further testing. He did tell me that other teatments were available but again by this time I had tried all of them on my own short of the Muse and injections. That is when I went back online ‘in search of’ and found out what using Muse would mean and what injection would mean for me in the future, if even either of them would work for me. I could not imagine myself pushing a pill up my penis everytime I wanted to have sex an giving my boy a shot each time was even less appealing to me so that is when I decided to take a long hard look at a penile implant.

I know for many men, this would be harder to imagine themselves doing than pushing a pill up their penis or giving themselve a shot but for me that was not the case. I think part of it was that, short of infection, this was a almost 100% sure-fire answer to my problem, for the rest of my life. So I called my doctor and said that I did not want him to refer me to a urologist but that I would find one on my own. The reason for this is, as many men on this site will tell you, not just any urologist will do. It had to be one who I felt comfortable with and one who had done tons and tons of implants before. I know there are several urologists out there who could do this but it is really only a handfull that I would trust with my boy when push comes to shove. I found Dr. Bruce Garber in Philadelphia who struck a nerve for me. Listening to him on the internet, watching him do some implants online and looking at the shear numbers of implants that he has done was the thing that sealed it for me.
I sent him an email and his office called me the next day. Within a matter of weeks I was setting in his office and one week later, February 13, I let him be the one who inducted me into the ‘Brotherhood of Bionic Boners’.

As of this writing I am still in the first week post-op and I am flooded with questions that Dr. Garber cannot answer. However, due to Paul and the rest of the men in this select group of men I feel sure I can find the answers to the questions that only a fellow member can supply. I hope that I will not only find answers here but that I will be able to supply some answers for other men who are searching as well. I have no reservations about sharing anything or any aspect of what I went through or what I am currently going thourgh if it will help another man. I will let you know though, that I will be somewhat guarded in sharing things about my wife. Guys, I am a open book for your use but my wife and what I share about her will be very guarded as she is my greatest treasure and I will do nothing to cheapen our relationshiip.

For anyone who would like to email me outside this forum my email is den5576@gmail.com.

Welcome to FT Den,

First of all, congratulations on your recent IPP (Inflatable Penile Prosthesis) Procedure.
I developed ED Post-Prostatectomy in February 2004 and suffered for 3+ years with the devastating side effects.
Then, on December 13, 2007, I underwent an IPP Procedure which completely corrected my ED and restored both my sex life and the emotional intimacy with my wife of 45 years.
I wish you and your wife the same pleasure that my Implant has given to my wife and me over the past 4+ years.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions about the healing process or would just like to talk.
To quote Dave "Welcome to the Brotherhood of Bionic Boners".

Den:

Welcome to FT! I'm glad you have already found my sense of humor enjoyable. Along with E D, I also have a problem with depression, caused at least partially by my problems with E D. So, I have found that my way of coping with depression is to find the humor in everything, especially my own problems. Every once in a while, I come up with something that seems to "stick", like the term "Brotherhood of Bionic Boners".

As far as your questions, I would refer you to my post in the implant forum titled "LGX Log". Like you, I am willing to bare my soul when it comes to E D, and I think I did that fairly well in my writings. You can follow my progress, fears, problems, and other thoughts as I recovered. Hopefully it will help you as you progress into uncharted territory. If you do have other questions, feel free to PM me and I can either respond via PM, meet you in chat, or call you on the phone if you wish.

Just out of curiosity, which implant did you choose to use, and were there any underlying reasons? That info is always great for prospective inductees into the "Brotherhood".

Welcome Brother!

Thanks Bob and Dave,

I will look at your log Dave and see if that answers some of my questions or creates more. I look forward to getting to know all of you guys here at FT.

Congrats on the installation of your bionic boner Den and also, welcome to Frank Talk.

I don't think you mentioned which type of bionic boner you had installed?

I had the AMS LGX 700 installed in Dec. 2010. Please feel to write me with any questions regarding LGX implants, if that is what you received.. I have yet to see a Titan Coloplast so not familiar with how those operate.

Wishing you lots of good and very hard times ahead.
