Hello everyone my name is Mick ( 49 years old) and have just recently had my implant(17.01.2012).I found the op and post op more painful than i thought ,but 7 weeks post op i am virtually pain free and feeling better and pleased with the results so far.My only concern is the size of my flacid penis which in length is the same as my erect penis and difilcult to tuck away so to speak.I saw my dr yesterday and he says their is a slight problem with the device self inflating , resulting in me deflating 2 or 3 times a day.I was wondering if anyone had any similar problems to me in this area and any advice or comments would be great to hear.
For the record my problems with ED started after my RP for prostate cancer in 2010 ,in the following 2 years went through all the tablets ,injections and the pump wihout any real success bringing me to the implant as my last resort.

Hello Mick and welcome to FT.

I'm not sure which brand you have. I have an AMS 700 LGX. The pump is designed with a valve that is designed to stay in either the inflate or deflate position. If you leave it in the deflate position (after pressing the button and deflating) the tubing between the penis and the reservoir is basically an open connection. You squeeze your penis to get it to deflate, then you bend over and sit down, putting pressure on the reservoir and push the fluid back in the penis. It makes sense when you think about it. When you first inflate the AMS, the first pump is hard, and you will feel a little pop and it becomes easier to pump. That is the valve shifting to the inflate position, connecting the bulb of the pump to the penis. Now, the only way to get fluid into the penis is to squeeze the pump, the connection between the reservoir and the penis is now closed. In that position it is almost impossible to self inflate.

So, deflate, squeeze it flat, pump once and feel the pop, and park your buddy in the most comfortable position. I'm not sure if the Coloplast OTR pump works the same or not. Bob or one of the other Titan guys might be able to address that.

BTW, my implant was 10 months before yours, 3-17-2011, St. Paddy's Day. I had a lot of difficulty keeping my new bionic buddy parked in a comfortable position. My flaccid size is probably double in length and 50% larger in girth than before, and as you are discovering, it don't just fold, compress, etc. like before and pressure on the glans area will cause discomfort. It will get better as the cylinders become more flexible and you are able to squeeze more out of it and get it to shrink a bit. However, if you have the Titan, I think it doesn't shrink as much as the LGX. Some day I will meet a Titan guy and we'll have to do a side by side comparison and report back!

Enjoy your implant, and welcome to the Brotherhood of Bionic Boners!

Hello everyone,

I am Felix and I am 48 years old. Diagnosed on May of last year and had the Davinci surgery performed on September of last year. Incontinence was pretty much gone about 7 weeks later, ED continue to date. I saw the Uro last Friday and we talked about Trimix, because what we were trying (Cialis, Pump, etc.) was not doing much, but waste of my time and money. He agreed to do it and I have to go back to the office next week early in the morning. We will see what happens. Any good piece of advice from previous users out there will be certainly appreciated. Thanks and glad to be here!

Please read the forum on injection therapy. There are lots of good posts there. I've been a successful Trimix user for about 18 months. I think most prickstickers would agree that injections are an awesome solution.

Hello Mick and welcome to Frank Talk AND The Brotherhood of Bionic Boners.

Dave did a wonderful job of explaining the self-inflating "fix". This part also confused me in the beginning (implanted 28/12/2010). Deflating and then gripping the penis (I grip it with my whole hand around the base and the pump) and giving it a squeeze to get all the saline solution out is important. Then you give the pump a squeeze until you hear the "pop" to lock it out. It closes the pump and any movement of solution from the pump to the penis is then inhibited. Sometimes at night I leave the valve OPEN and wake up with incredibly natural feeling boners, because of self-inflation. I then press the pump until I hear the "pop" to lock it, and I get to work. The spontaneity is back! Not sure what type of implant you have so cannot comment much on the flaccid size being close to the erect size BUT I can say that at exactly 6 months, everything changed a bit with my implant and it suddenly became more loose and relaxed much better. It went from 3 o'clock to more like 5:30 in angle. Scar tissue growth is hard at work now and will arrange and rearrange everything in that area (usually for the first 3-4 months). Make SURE to keep your new implant working OFTEN (at least twice a day) so that you can grow it and get maximum size and use out of it without the scar tissue cementing things in. Moving the pump into it's final position is critical at this point and up to you to accomplish. Remember, scar tissue WILL take over. Inflating to the MAX and WORKING IT A LOT is very recommended to keep scar tissue from inhibiting the maximum pumped size allowable. As opposed to the old way of wanking (pulling out and in on it), I now tend to keep my chambers PUSHED into my GLANS. This has really helped me to GROW my LGX and keep the chambers open and not glued in by scar tissue. You've gone so far as to get the IPP, now do the work for the next 18 months to make your IPP the very best that it can be. Don't just "expect" it to happen, MAKE IT HAPPEN. Besides, it feels REALLY REALLY GOOD to exercise this thing. My eyes tend to be closed with me thinking "ahhhhhhhh" when I exercise it.

Once you deflate it, squeeze it or "flatten it out" as Dave put it. You'll find that, with practice, you'll be able to get more and more of the saline solution out of the chambers as you become more and more adept at using your IPP. Within 6 mo. to 1 year, all will return to natural and you'll start almost forgetting that you're implanted, because it does start to feel very natural, usually by the one year mark.

May you have many good and hard times in your future!
