New Guy Introduction

I'm so glad I found this forum. I've been suffering with ED for many years, and often felt really alone with my issue. It's great to find a community where I can speak freely about my issue with guys who truly understand what I've been going through.
I'm 57, and have been suffering from some form of ED since my early 20's. In my younger days, it was pretty intermittent, and even when it did happen, I could usually get an erection hard enough to complete sex. But over the years it became gradually worse. I thought for years that I just had a psychological problem and suffered with my own pain, and knowing that I was being judged on some level by the women I was with, and my long time wife. I got so tired of disappointing her and having her thinking I wasn't attracted to her. (I am very lucky to have such a beautiful, desirable wife!) So I sucked up my pride and went to a Urologist. Long story short, after ultra sounds I was diagnosed with venous leakage. It was a relief to know that it wasn't 'all in my mind' after all, but concerning that I did have a physical issue. Started with pills till they no longer did the job on their own. Progressed to a pump, but have issues with losing penis control with a restriction ring on. Then did Muse, with little effect. Ended up on injections which work great for me, especially in conjunction with pills. But because insurance no longer covers the cost, I'm searching for advise for obtaining the most cost effective injectables for my situation. I look forward to chatting with the board members and sharing info.

What injections are you on? I started on Edex injections but my insurance quit covering them and they weren't otherwise affordable.

I then switched to compounded Alprostadil (mono-mix) from a compounding pharmacy at 80mcg per ml allowing me to reduce the injection volume. The compounder I use is way cheaper than Edex and I don't even worry about the insurance coverage.

You should also be able to find a compounding pharmacy that will supply you too. I don't believe mine is licensed for SC so no point in sharing mine. The prices charged by pharmacies vary pretty dramatically so shop around.

Another complication for me is that most compounders only do tri-mix with only a few doing the mono-mix I use. I'm not sure why. I'm sure tri-mix would work for me too but since the mono-mix works great why mess with success?

I'm using 14 units per injection now which has increased some but my juice is starting to get some age on it (months) and even if kept frozen mono-mix looses a bit of potency over time. But even at 15 units per shot, at $125 for 10 ml it works out to be pretty cheap.

Good luck.

Thanks bldoink. Great info for me. I started on Caverject but then switched to Edex. But cant afford it now that insurance stopped coverage. I'm looking for a compounding option.
