Introduction and Short Story

Glad to find this forum.
I joined yesterday and am learning a lot about the struggle of others and wanted to share my own. I'm 53, began having difficulties at age 39 and at age 42 found love despite an obvious ED issue. My difficulties began during a stressful time in my life that included a diagnosis of Austism for my 3 year old daughter, a difficult marriage that was on a bullet train to divorce two years later and recovering from financial distress. A visit to a doctor at age 40 resulted in a ten pill prescription for Viagra from a doctor who thought it was psychological due to life issues. Pills did help things but I didn't conceive this was going to be a long term issue.
What didn't immediately come to mind when in that doctors office then or until recently, is my diet and a bout with constipation. Does this sound familiar to anyone.. early morning visit to the bathroom for a bowel movement WHILE erect AND constipated. You know, pushing so hard that the only thing distracting you from the pain of birthing a pound of impacted carbs are the tears falling at the thought of telling your closest friends about the battle you will eventually win at the expense of sitting comfortably for the next three days. Perhaps this wouldn't have resulted in any adverse after affect but this wasn't a one off event. (Yes, my wife pointed out, why didn't I use a stool softener of some kind..? Well, when you don't have any point of reference and just wing it in the moment, you don't think outside of your usual comfort zone. How many young men had softeners in your medicine cabinet?)
I realize there are a variety of reasons why we have this life altering and all encompassing physical disability. Below is my theory and hopeful someone has been there before me with guidance to provide.
Anyway, I have a theory and want to open my hypothesis to others.. What is the capacity for blood flow in an artery/vein before the psi (pound per square inch) cause failure? How much pressure (and blood) can I force into my already erect penis before the pressure is too much and it is forced back toward the source of the blood flow? I believe my battle with nature in the bathroom, a half dozen times or so, has made my flacid penis half the size it was previously and incapable of receiving a volume of blood that allows a full natural erection.
I sleep deeply and wake for late night bathroom breaks. I'm about 50% erect but no flow to the head of my penis. When I stand, that erection quickly dissipates. I believe my standing in an upright position then forces blood to pool in a cavity (some may call it a hemorrhoid of sorts, that I can feel as I stand) thanks to gravity, preventing the continued support of an engorged penis. (Continued full disclosure, in my 20's I had a number of hemorrhoids and am familiar with that pain/discomfort. What I'm feeling these days isn't pain, just a pocket of what I believe is filling behind my prostate.)
I'm here to learn and support others.
Thank you,
