Hi guys, considering implant

I'm 59 and had open prostate surgery and radiation 3 years ago. I've been married for 40 years and had no ED issues before the cancer. In fact, the only indicator was a 3 point rise in my PSA level in one year. After the surgery things sounded positive. The doctors managed to save one side the nerve system. I even had an erection a few days after while the catheter was still in. The news wasn't so good after the gland was checked and I was told the margins were to close to call so I would need 40 sessions of radiation to make sure they got it all.
Well here I am 3 years later and after failure with Viagra, Trimix and a vacuum device, I'm considering an implant. The reason I found this site is because I was searching to figure out which device would be the best for me. I would consider my penis size to be average, although somewhat smaller than before surgery. I never measured but I would say I can get it to 6 inches with the vacuum device now. Unfortunately my wife is a small woman that is very tight. (lucky me right). But, this makes a floppy purple hard-on pretty much worthless for us. We are down to once a week sex (if you can call it that) from 3-4 times a week before cancer. I think we would both like to have back the spontaneous moments that you can't get with meds or devices.
So far after reading the post on this site I'm leaning towards the AMS LGX. The idea of regaining some lost size sounds like a good thing. Another thing that is important to me is looking and feeling as normal as possible when flacid.
Thanks to all you guys for sharing your experiences here.

My only suggestion is that you consider less invasive injection therapy before going under the knife. Just saying.

Hi Buck,
Welcome to Frank Talk.
I developed ED Post Prostatectomy in February 2004 at age 65 and, after having tried Viagra, VED and Injections unsuccessfully, I was implanted with the Coloplast Titan in December 2007. Thankfully, the Titan completely corrected my ED and restored both my sex life and the emotional intimacy with my wife of 45 years.
My wife and I have been enjoying my Titan Implant for the past 4+ years and counting.
I also highly recommend you read the Posts of the other Bionic Brothers in our Group.
There is a wealth of information here but the final choice is yours.
Best of luck with your Implant --- please keep us posted on your progress.

Bob

Greg, Trimix is injection therapy. I tried it for almost a year. Even with the strongest prescription with the maximum dosage I would have a 2-3 minute usable erection, then I would have this semi thing going on for 4-5 hours afterwards.

Viagra gave me a headache, backache, a stuffy head, a red face and just enough increase in blood flow to make a bigger handful but not enough for penetration.

I have had a little recent luck with my VED since reading the suggestions on this forum and ordering the foam penile sleeve. It's not earth shattering yet but I am willing to practice, practice, practice as the instructions say to do. Crazy how doctors can prescribe and suggest things but you can learn more from a few minutes of reading forums like this than the doctors will ever tell you??

Thanks Bob, I will most likely have the implant in the near future. I have read much of what is written here and it sounds very encouraging for me. The main complaints seem to be from the well hung guys. Who would have ever thought that an average size penis would be a benefit, ha ha. It is still a tough decision for me because I have had my fill of doctors cutting on me in the past.

Thanks to all you guys for sharing. This site is a wealth of knowledge.

Well, friend, if the pills don't work, and the shots don't work, then you're right on target to consider the implant. I know that's what I'll do if ever the shots stop working for me. Best wishes.

Just got one and I'm 53. The shots worked for awhile, but worsened my peyrone's and eventually were not reliable. I ended up with the AMS 700, and I can't complain. In addition, there was hardly any pain! Go for it!

I agree, if pills, and shots don't work and you've ruled out VED's as an option go for the implant. But do your research and find a top notch urologist/surgeon, who specializes in ED treatments to do it. From what I learned here, its the key to success and satisfaction.
