First time for me

Hi.
I just registered and this is my first message here on FrankTalk. I am 64 years old. I am in relatively good health, am a bit overweight, have a healthy prostate with what my urologist says are very good PSA readings for a man of my age (around .80-.90). I have dealt with ED since the mid-1980’s. Again according to my doctor, I am taking several meds to help with sleep issues, very high anxiety and mild depression and any ONE of these meds could cause ED, let alone the fact that I am taking a total of 7 twice daily! There also appears to be some physical damage due to my youthful bike riding days when I would spend hours riding my bike. Some of you men may know what it feels like when you are standing up pedaling as fast and hard as possible only to slip off the pedal and smash one’s privates into the bike frame in a very hard and painful manner! When I first had the courage to visit with my general practice physician’s PA about my difficult sexual functioning at the age of 36, he suggested several solutions. First I used VED therapy which was not a very pleasant experience. Then I tried Viagra when it first came out and had success for a while until I began developing severe headaches and problems with eyesight. Since then I have also tried the other oral meds. I’ve tried MUSE but the only thing that happened was severe urethral burning. Since 1995 I have been using penile injections, first with a recipe developed by my PA and since then, using double strength Tri-Mix at the highest dosage allowed by my urologist. If I’m lucky I can maintain an erection for about 5 minutes but if I move, sit or bend, I lose it very quickly. Needless to say, there doesn’t appear to be many ways for successful sexual experiences when standing perfectly still! In the past 5 months since my new urologist mentioned IPP surgery (which I dismissed immediately!) I have been researching and searching on the internet gathering all the information possible about implant surgery. I’ve read all the research papers I could find posted on the internet by urologists, watched the videos and listened to roundtable discussions and lectures from the five urologists who are recognized as the top experts in the field (Dr. Eid, Dr. Kramer, Dr. Garber, Dr. Perito and Dr. Karpman). I have reviewed all the information possible from Coloplast and AMS websites and while on AMS website, I clicked on “Find a Physician” , entered my zipcode and discovered that my current urologist is on the list of doctors who implant AMS prosthesis. I am very interested in the AMS700LGX because of my size. I have an appointment with my urologist in two days to begin the discussion about implant surgery. I am scared, excited and embarrassed but really need to move ahead with this. I hope the discussion goes good. Thanks for all your communications with each other on this site. I have read postings from the past few years and you’ve given me courage and a strong desire to overcome my ED and move forward with a renewed and exciting sexual relationship with my spouse. I’ll post again if I have any questions or concerns.
