Second puberty and other conundrums

I've dropped by this site a few times, but finally decided to join as a member.

I'm 55, married, and have occasional EQ (erection quality) issues. Meaning I don't consider myself to have full-blown ED. One of my hesitations in joining this site is that my erection problems aren't nearly as severe as some guys. But hopefully I can learn from some who have more experience staving off ED, and maybe I can encourage some others as well, even if I haven't had a radical prostatectomy, etc.

Usually Viagra, etc. helps me sufficiently, unless I'm utterly stressed or exhausted. But I hate taking pills and don't like the side effects. So I'm constantly looking for more natural, lasting ways of improving erections. Options I've tried include pumping (as an exercise, not just as part of preparation for intercourse), jelqing, foreskin restoration, and regular masturbation between love-making. All other things being equal, those "options" seem to help, though I couldn't tell you what is most effective. I think they all have a synergistic effect to help improve erection quality. But they're not fool proof. Sometimes I feel like I'm in second puberty, trying to figure out how to use my own anatomy!

A constant question I have is, "How much do I expect from my dick?" I.e., some guys just figure ED is inevitable, so why fight it? Others will do absolutely anything to be buried with a hard-on! There's got to be a balance between "accepting reality" and maintaining optimal health.

Hey, Greg, you like Dylan Thomas. Are you a poet too? Not a bad thing. I like reading poetry to my wife. I wonder if other guy's wives like that sort of thing too.

Josh, welcome to the site. I like that abbreviation EQ. Maybe it will replace ED. Sounds better.
Besides viagra etc. a good diet and exercise are supposed to be helpful. I've heard that spicy foods also help expand the arteries. But what they do to the stomach is another matter. What you are doing seems to be sensible. So long as it works for you it must be good.

I would't call myself a poet, but I think I'm a pretty good writer. Being married to an English teacher doesn't hurt.

Welcome, Josh. I am also fairly new to the group. I have ED due primarily to diabetes, but I am sure my age (68) isn't helping my problem either. I have worked myself up to 100 mg of Viagra and also regularly pump for both EQ purposes and to generate an erection with the help of a constriction band for sex.

I just posted in the General Discussion Forum that my T level was recently tested at 330 (low end of normal) and the Uro prescribed Testim gel which seems to be helping me already to achieve an 80 - 90% erection without taking Viagra. I did, however, use Maxidus, an over the counter male enhancement pill. The Maxidus cost $2 a pill and the $40 monthly insurance co-pay for Testim is covered by a coupon for 12 months. Seems I have found a low cost alternative to Viagra which my insurance provider limits to 18 in a 75 day period.

where did you purchase the maxidus and testim from? (what store over the counter).
