Hello Everyone,
I am so glad to have finally joined the community! I found this forum a few months ago and have been following the discussions by lurking, but finally decided to join I am trying to keep a sense of humor about all this ,but its really not all that funny !
My story is similar to others. I have had a few bouts of ED since I was 18 years old, but I think the causes were more related to excessive drinking. This did tone down my college years a bit, but things were mostly good up until I turned 38.(married at 31) At this point I worked up enough nerve to ask my doctor about it. He prescribed Cialis 5mg and things were great! After a year or so I noticed the 20mg size pills were not much more money so I got a prescription for those and started cutting them in half to 10mg. I took them a few times a week and I was always ready! Things were great. Fast forward over the next 4 years I progressed up to needing a 20mg pill to "perform". Things were still going along great until... the Cialis stopped working. Tried Viagra which worked great for about three months then nothing. Levitra did nothing at all.
At this point I decided to go see a Urologist. He did some tests and found out I had low Test (279). Tried Testim Gel and did not raise much at all. Went to Test injections and the pills started working again-yahoo This worked for another year or so then it stopped working-WTF. Transitioned to the Testosterone implant pellets for the low-T but the pills effectiveness started tapering off again after awhile...
I talked the Uro into prescribing Tri-mix and I was at least able once again. But I find the shots to really hamper the frequency. Way too much planning. I can take the pain but it just does not feel all that natural. No more spontaneous encounters. No more morning sex as the residual effects last at least an hour to an hour and a half.
So here I am at almost 45 years old considering if I should be having an implant installed. I really think this is starting to strain my 14 year marriage. I am leaning in that direction because I need a "cure" for this issue. It is really bothering me and I feel like I need to put this behind me if that is at all possible...
I am located in the southern New England area...close to Boston or New York. Anybody know of any great surgeons in the area for this besides Dr. Eid in New York? (his office does not accept my United Healthcare insurance)
Looking forward to some good discussions!
Bob
