Have PCa - surgery scheduled for April. All new to me and to say the least and am scared.
3+4 Gleason , PSA 6.0

Due to family history my doctor was following my PSA so it was caught early which I understand is good.
Have a whole bunch of questions and am hoping your site will help provide answers

Welcome. This is doable! I am also a PCa victim and had robotic surgery. Just relax and enjoy the time before surgery; I mean that. The robotic surgery is an amazing step forward for us as patients and if you have an experienced surgeon you are well on the way. Surgery first and then the additional steps to recovery.

How can I help? I am available and will answer questions, talk and relay my experiences and thoughts if you wish. Remember, your journey will be unique to you. A number of the guys here have been thru this valley and we all celebrate each other's advances and recovery. If you want, recovery of sexual function is a process and there is a lot of experience and successes on this site. Besides penile therapy can be fun. . . we were never told that as teenagers. Also, my younger brother has just been diagnosed with PCa and I am assisting him as much as I can. There is power in our communal ability to support each other. Our collective aim is to return your "sawdust" to hard wood. That can be done but it takes a bit of time. Firstly, lets get rid of that dam PCa.

Age 62, married 41 years. BPH and Type II Diabetes 25 years. TURP 7 yrs ago; some ED issues about the same length of time. Cardiac valve replacement surgery 3 years ago. ED driven by diabetes. Tried pills. Just started injections. So far, so good.

Sawdust, PCa guys here also. 2 years 4 months out from surgery. Dick gave you very good advise. My Gleason was the same as yours on biopsy 3+4. I had open surgery and the surgery was much easire than I expected. I was offered to go home the next day but chose to say an extra night. Day 3 home. Best of luck with your surgery. I might recomend that you also join another site specificly with prostate cancer. healingwell.com has a section for prostate cancer. All the guys here and on the other site are willing to help you with all the questions.

If you are like most of us, you will be UP reading at all hours of the day and night trying to wrap your mind around what is happening and what you can do about it. The short answer is a lot. We think education removes fear and knowledge replaces imagination.

We will stand here with you to support, encourage and try to answer specific questions. The actual journey is yours and yours alone. Each of us has had a different journey and yours will be unique to you. Read as much as you can. Seek the early support of those closest to you. Take someone with you to appointments. Make "Question" lists and record answers.

Accept my belated welcome to FT. I can't speak to post-op difficulties, but I know the guys here--regardless of their severity or cause of ED--are very supportive.

Welcome! In case you can't tell, these are the best guys on the net. There have been lots of PCa guys here...I had it. as one guy told me "You've got some rough paddling ahead, but nothing you can't handle". That was it exactly. The side effects will work themselves out. I would dive into healingwell.com. They are the best PCa board. After surgery...don't worry. We can make sure you got an erection - even after death!
take a breath...you'll be fine.
