Hello guys,
Here is my story in a nut shell:
I am 45 now, last August Biopsy diagnosed prostate cancer PSA 4.36. RRP 9-28-10.
one month PSA 0.02 three month PSA 0.00
Bladder control at about 3 weeks out so did well there. ED not so good. I use an Osbon pump once /day for 10-20 minutes can use ring for sex but is uncomfortable for me and wife. Have tried all the meds and no noticable results I cont. with them for the "behind the scenes" effect for blood supply. I hope the meds will start to work soon!
I am going in at end of this month for my 6 month post op visit and having testosterone level checked as well as PSA. I am going to ask to start on injection therapy then! I asked at 3 month visit and Dr. said no. I already have an appointment set 2 weeks after the one with my now Uro Dr. so I will fire him if he doesnt start me on injections and go to this other one who I know will start me on them. I already fired the first Uro Dr. who did the surgery cause he was such an ASS afterwards! long story there.....chose this Uro Dr cause his profile said he specialized in ED post PCa so far he is too conservative for me! I need some action and some results!
I am getting very frustrated! My wife says she is supportive and understands, but the way I see it she is just not interested in trying sex because the frustration on both our parts of trying and nothing happening without useing the pump and then we are both uncomfortable with the feeling of the cold erection and the "hard" rubber ring.
Sorry to vent on you just started writing this and it all came out on you.....
I am here to learn from everyone else who is or has been where I am at now, an dmaybe help anyone who my small amount of understanding of all this might be usefull for.

God bless, and thank you!
Shawn

Shawn,

Welcome to Frank Talk and thanks for sharing. The component parts of your story echo the roads that so many of us have travelled. Indeed, you have come to the right place. While we all share so many of the same experiences, each of our journeys is a little different. That's why the information we share is so very valuable. If I've tried 6 things, then 1 or 2 of them might be valuable to you. And so on for each person. In my case, I have no PCa, but diabetes driven ED that has been really, really bad for 3 years. After multiple experimentation with various combos of all three pills (Viagra, Levitra, Cialis), my uro started me on injections (trimix) last November. Hallelujah! I had to experiment a bit to find the right dosage, and not all the kinks are worked out yet, but I am making wood like I haven't seen in a long, long time. I'm sure there is a solution for you; keep trying and keep pestering the docs. My mantra was "this is not an acceptable outcome." Fortunately for me, all of my doctors agreed: Internist, cardiologist, cardiac surgeon, and the urologist. (I even thought about asking the veterinarian, but figured I had enough medical advice.) We all worked to find the solution and it seems, for now at least, we have. You're a very young man, Shawn, and there's absolutely no reason you have to settle for a life without sex. If an old fart like me can find a way to get hard, so can you. Come visit us in the Chat Room. We share good info there and have a great time ragging on each other. All in fun, of course. It's real guy talk about real world stuff. Look forward to seeing you there.

Greg

Shawn,
I am 72, married, ED for about 10 years, 8 of which I overcame with pills, (v,c, l).... however, abdominal surgury two and a half years ago resulted in nerve damage resulting in retrograde ejaculation (no semen comes out and goes into the bladder instead), plus the inability to get a dependable erection for regular sex. After two years with only 4 successful sexual encounters, i began injections of trimix. BINGO !!! Every occasion was successful (except for 2 when i was self adjusting to obtain minimum dosage to avoid priapism) since beginning. Your story seems to parallel mine, even though the cause was different, and I believe injecting with trimix will 'make you whole' again!
Check into the Chatroom ! I think you will find the discussions there helpful.
Bill

Shawn,

We all need to vent, now and then. This is a safe place not only to vent, but also to get some good practical advice--which you've already seen in this thread. Although I'm glad no one has actually gone to a vet for their ED (or have they, Greg?) I suppose if a guy is hung like a horse...
