Hi Christiaan,

Welcome to Frank Talk. My underperforming phallus is also due to Type II diabetes. After several years of declining penile performance, I spent 3 really tough years trying every pill (the big three, anyway) and every combination thereof--all with mixed results. The best results I had were from daily 5 mg cialis. Even then, it was hit or miss, and more miss than hit. I also have had some cardiovascular issues, so I am monitored by my cardiologist, heart surgeon, urologist, and internist (who manages my diabetes) regularly. After that 3 year period, the next step was testing for testosterone levels, both regular and "free" testosterone. Those numbers came back a little low, but "within the range of normal". The conclusion was that my ED was just not going to respond to any oral med and I started using trimix injections in November. BAZINGA!! The very first shot gave me wood like I hadn't seen in decades. Woohoo! Little Gregory is alive and well. It took about a month to get the dosage right, but I have had no side effects from the trimix except for delayed ejaculation. That seems to be rather common. The good news is that my erections are strong enough to last as long as needed to put me over the top.

So that's my story. Advice? Ask your internist or urologist to test for both T and Free T levels. If that's not a contributing factor, then learn all you can about injections and then ask your doctor informed questions about what you have learned. As I tell others, it's certainly worth a shot. Keep trying. My mantra was "this is not an acceptable outcome".

Here's to hard times, buddy. Hope to see you in the Chat Room.

Greg

Christiaan,
Welcome to Frank Talk. There's a lot of different stories and backgrounds at this website, but I think you've already found that there's someone here who can "relate," and even when we have different ED issues, there's always an encouraging word.
