Try again

OK had a great post but some how it got lost so here we go again. Joined the club we don't want to be in due to robotic surgery for PCa in 2007. Lost one nerve bundle on left side due to cancer being out side capsule. I've had a limpnoodle ever since. I am 62 years of age and the all PSA's since surgery have been undectectable and total urinary control. Sould be happy but I want a sex life. Mine was pretty good before even made love the night before surgery. I have tried everything for the ED: pills, needles, pumps, Muse (ouch!!!) and all kinds of combinations. What works best is daily cialis and the pump. With that combination almost can get old limpie back to the way he behaved 40 years ago. Problem is climaxes don't always occur and when they do well; their kind of anticlimatic. I can't be the only one with this problem. How do you other guys deal withit?

Welcome, Limp!

You're right. Lots of guys on here dealing with ED derived from prostate surgery. Looks to me like you've done all the right things: pills, pumps, shots, etc. My ED comes from diabetes, not from PCa, but limp is limp. Pills did nothing for me but trimix injections have given me back my life. the only--and I mean only--drawback is that it is more dificult to achieve orgasm and it takes longer. Quite frankly, sometimes one of us simply wears out before I get off and I just finish up on my own. Perhaps not ideal, but still so much better than before. I have only been using trimix since November, so we have plans to work on this all summer while my sweet wifey is out of school.

Stand by. You're going to hear from a bunch of guys, I suspect. Again, welcome. Drop by the chat room when you have time.

Hi Limp: Im a PCa guy as well. 2years 7 months ago I lost my wood. Yep I am grateful for the fact that the PCa has not come back and I am not leaking. Like you I have done and still do the pump, pills and injections. I also tried MUSE (ouch) is right. I must say the injections are just wonderful for sure. The problem of not getting to the big ending is fairly common. there is little consistency with this. Some events are like the old days for sure. I certainly don't mind practicing.

As Greg said come join us in the chat room. Great group of guys. Know that your not alone in this quest to get your sex life back.

Greg and Jeff; I see you both are from LSU country. I am an Auburn Tiger!! Other than ED we have another thing in common we all dislike Bama. Go SEC west.
An odd thing with this ED sometimes I really respond well to pills but other times nothing and there is no predicting when the good response is going to happen. You tell the wife "honey get in the mood quick limpie is about to rise", and by the time she is ready the little bit of life he had went away. Anything with PGE in it (Muse, Trimix) has the desired effect but it sets me on fire and not in a good way. The Docs seem to think I have venous leak and I guess they are right because nothing works with out a band. For a while I thought "I've got this figured out" cialis daily and a light band was working but am going thru a nonresponsive limp period right now.

Good to be with you guys,
Limpnoodle

Hey Limp,

Yep, Jeff and I are in the heart of LSU country right here in Baton Rouge. And while I can't speak for Jeff, I can tell you that we recently bought our 2 year old grandson a t-shirt that says "I hate veggies and the Crimson Tide!"

Glad to make your acquantance. I guess we can all agree on "Go Tigers"!

Stay tuned and keep trying different alternatives. There is a solution for you. My mantra was "this is not an accpetable outcome".

Hard times,

Greg

Limp:

Welcome to a great website and a great bunch of guys. I'm not a cancer survivor, but had ED due to injury as a kid, BP meds, diabetes, etc. Went thru the whole progression of remedies, and on St. Paddy's Day this year, I became bionic. I've had a few issues, but the bottom line is, I can get a great woody any time I want and my wife has this permanent smile on her face. Our spontaneous sex is back, and its wonderful. I've posted my whole story on the implant blog, so feel free to read. My point is, I had the same issues you did, and I went this way and I'll never look back. Something to consider.

Dave; I have considered an implant, but frankly with the apparent reduction in sensation I do not know if it's worth it. You may be able to answer a question I am sure a lot of us have. Are sensations better or the same implant vs other methods? Thanks

I can't speak for others, but for me the implant (Coloplast Titan 6/200i8) did not change sensation at all. It feels completely natural - climax takes longer, but feels the same

Its funny you should be talking about sensation. I've never heard of the "apparent loss of sensation". If I had, I might not have had the implant!

I was concerned about it, though. It was my last sticking point in my decision. I have greatly diminished sensation, first because a good share of my most sensitive nerve endings were taken from me with circumcision. I didn't miss them when I was young, but I could sure use them now! Now, I have type 2 diabetes with its effect on the nerves. Before the implant, my wife would give me oral and the feeling was almost non existant, I wouldn't even get hard. However, if I did something to get the blood flowing (pills, pumps, or injections, I've used them all), I noticed that when the glans were engorged, I had good sensation. If I couldn't keep a good firm erection, I couldn't reach orgasmm the feeling just wasn't intense enough. So, I was concerned that since the glans won't engorge from pumping the implant, would this be usable, or would I have a hard shaft, limp glans, and a cock that gave me no sensual pleasure?

I talked with quite a few guys on here and other ed boards or groups, and was told the sensation might be diminished after surgery, but would return.

That has been my experience. I am still numb along the urethra up to about 1/2" below the glans, undoubtedly due to the incision. It feels like the nerves are slowly healing. However, the glans and what is left of the nerves below the glans seem to be at least as sensitive as before. I'm noticing that the hardness of the implant puts sufficient pressure on the lower part of the glans that I have great feeling during sex, enough that I can feel the area around the urethra and the glans themselves engorge with blood, making the sensations even better.

I'll give you a graphic example. My wife decided to wake me up this morning with a bj. I didn't even pump up and she had me going nuts. Even without the benefit of a hard cock, my nerves were working very well. I would have to say at this point that I have an improved level of sensation.. So, if this is your reason for not proceeding with the implant, I would have to say that in my experience, it isn't a valid reason.

Any other questions, shoot. I'll answer as honestly as I can.

Dave

I miss spoke(typed). The apparent reduced sensation that I am dealing with now is what I was referring too. Since I don't feel much now with other methods I am not sure an implant would give me anything other than a stiff but dead penis. So I guess my question was "Does an implant improve sensation over other methods or does sensation remain about the same?" My take from a couple of you is an implant does not reduce sensation after healing is complete.
