Hello everyone: I am 64 and in very good health. I had robotic surgery in June and am wondering if my sexual function will come back with time. The doctor has had me try both viagra and cialis, but no result. Will things get better as the months go on?

Welcome to Frank Talk. You've come to the right place to get answers to your questions. I've been here a year and have amassed an amazing amount of vital information. These are real guys talking real life situations. I have not had Prostate Cancer, so others in your situation will need to address your question specifically. (My limp dick problem is related to diabetes.) What I can tell you is that the pills didn't do much for me either. I would ask you exactly what you mean by "try viagra and cialis"? Did you use them together? Did you use each for 1 week? One month? Those are important questions to consider before moving to the next step. In my case, after nearly 3 years of very frustrating failure with every conceivable como of the 3 major oral meds, I started using trimix injections 12 months ago. Bingo! I found the solution that's right for me. Please take the time to read some of the posts under Injections and you'll probably see examples of my "testimony". Bottom line: it may be time for you to have a chat with the urologist about injections. And please don't be creeped out by the idea of sticking a needle into your favorite body part. Having wood like a 19 year old is worth it, believe me.
Please don't hesitate to jump in here and ask all the questions you have. Feel free to be direct and specific. And come see us in the chat room. That's a real hoot. But watch out for some of the guys. Cajun Jeff will tell you that he's better looking than I am but he lies like a rug.
Best wishes,
Greg from Baton Rouge

Rd,
Welcome to the site. Let's hope your stay is only temporary. 4 months out from RP is nothing in the ED recovery scheme of things so not to worry yet.
Also as Greg asked, what kind of tries on Viagra and Cialis have you done. Lots of Uros just throw some samples at their patients and have em go try a few. That hardly ever helps. Like wise even the low-dose daily Cialis method won't show any visible results for an RP patient (even with nerve spared -- you do have nerves right??) and a full dose round is required every so often to test your mettle.
That said, I've been taking V, C and L for 2+ years now every so often ( hey I have boatloads of the pills and, By God, I'm gonna use em) -- even if they don't do anything much and likely never will at this stage -- but you never can tell.
One nice new idea that I wished were around in my earlier rehab days, is the Liquid MUSE daily rehab -- low impact, no needles, not too expensive if insurance covers most of the cost. Traditionally MUSE pellet insertion would be your next step by your Uro so getting a prescription is easy. You would then have to endure one insert at his office (which is usually not pleasant), but the rest could be low dose and probably no discomfort. If you go with this, just make sure you get a script for 1000mcg level -- or even better get a script for 1500mcg Trimix Gel -- more bang for the buck.
So what have you been up to for rehabbing so far ? V and C you said .. how about a VED pump?
Send out some details ... welcome on the site ...
J

RD: I see my name is mentioned so I will chime in for you. There are things to do to get that bad boy back in the game. You are still early in the healing process but we never know how much we will get back. It is a slow road to recovery. I see your taking the pills. Hope your pumping as well. In the latest rehab many Drs are starting guys on injections to keep blood moving in you member. I am one of those that did not see imporvement till after I started injections. Some guys are starting injections at 6 wks out. I wish my Dr had done that.
On another topic Greg mentioned me.. Yep I would be the good looking guy from BR but Greg got jealous and started going to the gym with a trainer and has lost all kind of weight.. So I guess we will just have to call him Stud Antelope!..
He may have to start doing the TriMix more often.
Join us in the chat room we have lots of fun.
Cajun Jeff
