Erect in hospital

fix this image in your mind

A man lays unconscious, supine on an operating table with a raging, fullbore erection sticking up in the air. The surgical team standing around cast admiring glances and compliments..

This is a true story. Oct 24, 2023.

I had a prostatectomy performed by the same surgeon who had previously installed my inflatable implant.

Because the reservoir for my implant was right next to the prostate, my surgeon deflated the reservoir to make it easier to manipulate.

Hence, there I was, flat on my back and unconscious in the operating room with a full-bore raging hard on.

He told me this story while I was in my hospital room, recovering. He reported that I got some admiration from the OR team. When I expressed appreciation over the comments, he gave a knowing glance and a wink to my nurse. “Well, that’s Mr. Sheep for you “. I suspect he was just showing off his handiwork. I knew he was proud of my penis from the original installation.

Unfortunately, he had to remove the reservoir because it was adhered to my pelvic fascia. He says he will be able to replace it. I suppose I should count my blessings because it gave him more room to take out margins and lymph nodes cleanly..

Thanks, Martin and Chris.

I am scheduled to have the reservoir replaced on Dec 17 at the same time as installing an artificial urinary sphincter. The surgery left me incontinent AND impotent! And did not get ll the cancer, either. When I went into the prostatectomy, I was thinking that I might get the "trifecta" of prostate cancer. Cure the cancer, retain potency and urinary control. I figured I had potency already locked in. As it turned out, I wound up with an anti-trifecta.

On the bright side, my PSA is down at the lower limit of standard PSA tests to measure. Thanks to being able to get estradiol, my side effects are minimal.

Oh boy, LS, glad to hear from you; was worried that you were "lost" from the forum. But very sorry about the "anti-trifecta." What bad luck.

Let us know how it went next month.

In any event, I hope you'll check in occasionally to help out the new guys.

Hang in there LS. I'm hanging with you. Had RP 11+ years ago. Due to a rising PSA I got irradiated this past year. After radiation the last 3 total PSA scores have been .04, .06 and .05. The Doc (oncologist) is now sending me out for some new blood test that is supposed to be 97% accurate at detecting tiny bits of escaped cancer whereas the PSA test is only 50% accurate at detecting any residual active cancer. The PET scan early in the year was negative. It's the road of life we travel. Sometimes there's bumps in the road.
