Having to switch from top to bottom

Anyone had to switch their preferred role in sex because of ED? Any advice?

I used to top a lot more but now I’m 95% bottom. I’m married to a man but we are also open. I actually enjoy bottoming more but when I top I’m always worried about staying hard. Maybe if I had a reliable erection I’d enjoy it more? Currently using trimix but planning to get an implant in 2 months. What are you struggling with?

I identify with this post a lot. Before I got a definitive fix for my ED (implanted in march of this year) my role was very much dependent on planning ahead and lacked spontaneity.

If I expected to top I would come prepared with a pill in my system, a Trimix shot in a discreet carry case in my pocket, and a cockring. I would excuse myself to the restroom, inject, and then the countdown (of the shots effectiveness) began.

As my ED progressed that timer got shorter and shorter.
If any unexpected sex came up it was bottom or nothing.

If I thought I was going to bottom (so I didn’t bring a shot with me) and the “top” was in a mood to bottom, that couldn’t happen. (This happened more often than you would expect)

My advice for anyone in a similar situation is to get your ED treated so you have the option to do whatever you want. Pills, then shots, then implant. Those are the current options.

But now that I’m implanted I have the freedom to just relax and enjoy the moment. I can top. I can bottom. I can flip (do both). We can just enjoy oral or stroking. And most importantly, the anxiety (Will I get hard?? Will I stay hard???) is gone. I can be present and focus on my partners pleasure. I can relax and enjoy mine.

I started my sex life as a bottom but when I got to top it changed my preference, this year due to ED I've had to revert back to bottoming if I want intimacy, which as a single guy, I do. Due to my liver issue I cant take any pills that go through the live as they will either not work at all, can cause a build up of the chemicals they are made up of in my system or make my liver worse. So until I get to see a liver specialist which is just a phone call in January so I can discus ED, im pretty much stuck with a flaccid dick. So it's a case of getting use to been the bottom again, which took a little time to do.

I will be relieved when I finally get my implant. This evening my husband and I had a cute young friend over that we’ve been meeting up with regularly. I made sure I took a bunch of Cialis, had my cock ring on, and had a trimix injection ready right before he got here. Meanwhile, all my husband had to do was take a shower. I was able to top ok but the amount of work it took to get there was not fun. I can’t imagine just being ready for whatever happens. I actually came for the first time as a top in probably 3-4 years. It felt incredible,. I really look forward to being able to be super hard and cum as a top. Don’t get me wrong, I love bottoming, but the excitement of just going with the flow is so appealing.

Absolutely part of me second guesses it. Like if I can stay hard in the situation then why do I need an implant? But I don’t want to be on the injections for years. I know it’s probably just a matter of time. That’s why I still plan to go through with it in February. I do believe I truly am vers, I want to be able to just do that comfortably.
