From keyword search here I gather from previous topics it's pretty iffy, but wondering if anyone had good results with it .. and if so do you know your prolactin level ? (i.e. wondering if it only works if one's prolactin level is abnormally high)

My doctor put me on cabergoline for several months. I had anorgasmia. I did not have any success with the drug. I could not tell any difference at all. I finally stopped taking the drug because of no positive response. I did discuss terminating the drug with my doctor before I stopped it and the price just kept going up. Best of luck to you.

I have been using cabergoline since 2013, using a dose of 0.125 mg per day. (I cut the 0.5 mg pills into quarters and take one each evening before bed time.) I find that cabergoline helps moderately with delayed ejaculation; however, when one's ability to ejaculate is marginal, even a moderate improvement is useful. I didn't have a prolactin measurement before I started using cabergoline. With it, prolactin is 0.9 ng/ml, which is well below the normal range of 2.1-17.7 ng/ml. My sexual medicine specialist has given me permission to double the dose if I want. Unfortunately, I find that taking any more than 0.125 mg per day makes me too tired. When I started taking cabergoline, I was told to take 0.5 mg twice a week. I found the hit from 0.5 mg all at once to be too much, which is why I cut the pills up. Cabergoline has a half-life of about 3 days, so you would get significant variations in the level in your body if you took it twice a weel.

Also tried it but it did nothing for me. I have anorgasmia too after Prostatectomy.

I had ED, anorgasmia plus numbness, and I use cabergoline. It did reduce prolactin which seemed to have the effect of obliterating any refraction period (I can have 20 orgasms back-to-back, and have done so on on sleepless insomnia nights)

however:

- prior to my issues,(my pre-ED life) i used have very small refractory period and was able to screw 10 times per night / 30 times per weekend

- These new post-cabergoline orgasms are independent of erectile function. in other words: i can wank my penis (flaccid or erect) and have pleasurable (but eventually "dry orgasms").

Extra workarounds that are part of my overall solution:

- marajuana has been effective for increasing libido, pleasure and the overall sensation

- 4 years ago, BIMIX gave me a new lease on life and solved the erection issue (but now i'm at the max TRIMIX with mediocre results, so i'm back to square-1, and therefore considering implant)

I personally found the lack of sensation/pleasure to be scarier than the ED, because at least with sensation in tact I could still enjoy many activities that did not require a ridged penis.

QuestionGuy.... I noticed "post Finasteride syndrome" in your signature info. I've been taking 2.5mg* Finasteride every day for ten years or so and I wonder if that may have contributed to my ED ?

As to your refractory period, I'm amazed. Even in my prime I couldn't orgasm more than twice in one night as I'd have a sore dick otherwise ! I do vaguely recall that the few times I had two orgasms within an hour the second one was astounding. :D

====================================

*For slowing hair loss. I realize that 2.5 is over twice the dosage necessary for hair issues, but it's difficult to break the standard 5mg pills into fourths...plus I read somewhere years ago the stuff was actually good for preventing prostate cancer....which apparently was wrong, but you guys tell me (my doc tells me my prostate is the size of a 30 year old, plus my PSA number is very low...so maybe it does help in that regard..or maybe just luck..)

Evinrude - Propecia reduces DHT - which was once believed to be good for nothing but baldness, so blocking it should be no more harmful than having your appendix taken out...right? .....except its not that simple : DHT breaks out into several sub metabolites (ie: 3 alpha-androstanedion and other hormones) I cant solve the riddle as to whats going on with POST-FIN-SYNDROME because I have other mitigating factors, so ill tell you what my experience has been.

I took Propecia

I manifested many of the symptoms associated with PFS

I have a great deal of scar tissue (peyronies)

I have a history of being over-sexualized

In my sex-fiend days: I trained myself mentally and physically to learn what to do, think, smoke and drink to stay in the sac for hours on end.

In my sex-fiend days: I did things that I now know were abusive to my body (having heavy women sit on top, screwing with a less than rock hard erection after already screwing all night with a hard one, screwing for hours on end)

Since the advent of the internet i have been able to scour medical literature and can find very little on how or why men perform as they do. Kinsy, The CDC, masters and Johnson ...all admit it hasn't been studied much. I think it is plausible that my behavior caused the scar tissue which contributed to the ED. Its also possible that some people (men and women) are over sexed due to some weird endocrinological thing, and maybe Finesteride was the match that lit the fuse and that's why many men take it without having issues. One thing is for sure. My obsession with women and sex lead me to be vein enough to alter my own endocrinology for purely cosmetic reasons.....and for that I have no one to blame but myself.

If you truly did not know there was any controversy regrading Finesteride with regards to ED and you take finesteride and you have ED, you will have to have to decide how to proceed. If a million men take propecia and a million men get peyronies and a million men get ED.....it is possible that a thousand men will be in all 3 groups; and to them the causation will be undeniable (like people who hit the lottery being certain it must have been the hand of god) Its also possible that Propecia, indeed, causes ED and peyronies in some who are endrochronogically disposed.

If anyone else is knowledgeable about this or has any similar experiences - Id love to hear about it.

Thanks for the details. I did Google the issue after my post and find most of what I read highly suspect as to asigning the symptoms some people have to Finasteride. As for me I suspect my ED is due to high BP (and the meds for same) Still, it gives one pause so I will at least start breaking my pills into fourths.

Evinrude - brain fog, depression, peyronies, suicidal thoughts etc.... can certainly be categorized "iffy' as far as this controversy goes. ....but: ED is listed on the manufacturers label as a KNOWN SIDE EFFECT, ....and you take 5 times the recommend dose. this part is not controversial. Its an antiandrogen (that's a fancy way of saying its a version of chemical castration) Three to fifteen percent of men who use propecia get ED (per the manufacturer and independent meta studies)

When men take 5mg for their prostate, they are risking their erection as an alternative to prostate surgery or possibly DEATH. That is an equitable trade. This particular controversy differs from other medical controversies, in that the risks are being assumed, for no reason other that having groovey hair.

Also remember that there are significant numbers of men who just "aren't that into sex" to begin with. I've encountered such men. They openly acknowledge that for them, ED is better than baldness. Other men are on the fence, but figure they have at least an 85% chance of not getting ED. if you use this drug and get one of the first side effects listed on the label - you cant really call that "iffy". Its more like a smoking gun.

I will acknowledge that the placebo effect is real. there is such a thing as a hypochondriac and Munchhausen syndrome is real also.....so some percentage of people manifesting PFS did so after hearing about it. they took it anyway. and then their own mind took over. You don't sound like your part of that group though. It sounds like you manifested ED before having this seed planted in your mind.

Question: how high does blood pressure need to be to cause ED ? I always thought blindness and other vascular issues with smaller veins were the first "canaries in the coal mine" (followed by ED, Heart attack, Stroke, Death)

I tried cabergoline for about 9 months and can’t say that it had any noticeable effect.
