Chronic prostatitis and semen sample

This is a dumb question, but I am going in soon to be checked for bacterial prostatitis and will probably need to give a semen sample. Previously the doctor did the prostate massage test. I know what I have to do to produce the semen, but has anyone here given a semen sample? Am I alone in the room? I was with the nurse one time with the massage test and the other time with the doctor. When the nurse did it she was right there. The sample has to be untainted I am sure so just curious what this appointment is going to be like. Thanks.
