That's because you received fake shockwave from a cheap radial shockwave device. Because the so-called "shocks" only go skin deep, they hurt. The clinician should have given you topical pain relief. The only shockwave that has received any scientific scrutiny is focused shockwave (device cost $75-100k) . The scammers use a completely different technology and fool desperate men into paying for it. Focused shockwave penetrates the skin and does not need topical pain relief.

You have to be careful with a Storz device. They make both kinds. The one that is focused shockwave is a
Storz Duolith SD-1, which is the most common in the USA.

Thanks I am aware, my friend who is in his 70's swears by the thing, and said it really works. Just for everyones info. Storz is a huge German medical company. Most major hospitals have a half million piece of equipment that smashes Kidney stones. They are the real deal.

I went to a men's clinic and had 8 Gainswave treatments. I hear that is not real shockwave therapy. The pain during the treatment was almost unbearable. It almost bought tears to my eyes. No pain afterwards though. And no improvement in the ED either.
