Neurological issues/Nerve damage

First off I'd like to wish everyone who refers to this site a happy & "fruitful" 2013. I am 6 months removed from a strange injury or event that ocurred during intercourse that changed the feeling in my penis and changed or compromised my erectile abilities. After alot of run around from doctors, I was diagnosed with a veinous leak after having a doppler ultrasound with a flaccid or non--erect penis. The leak diagnosis didnt explain the loss of feeling that I'm left with after my injury. By the advice of a 2nd doc, I got another doppler that showed no leakage or irregular bloodflow. Considering that I have diminished feeling when flaccid and that masterbation used to be effortless and now requires significantly more time & stimulation, I feel confident that I have narrowed down my issue to a neurological component that is damaged or compromised. I can get a good hard erection that requires a great deal more stimulation than before. I still haven't tried intercourse since the event. I also have an "injured feeling" in the penis when it is erect or becoming erect. Has anyone out there experienced any issues that they believe are neurological in nature? Possiby nerve injury or nerve damage? In a month, I'm going to see my doc for more follow up and if I'm going to continue to pursue a recovery or medical recovery then focusing on the possibility of a nerve injury or nerve damage is what I'm left with. Anyone who can offer similiar experience or knowledge could be useful and greatly appreciated. Thanks to all.

I have not experienced your situation, but I do suffer a bit from neuropathy as a result of 20 plus years of diabetes. My Uro advised that the more blood I can force in as a result of Trimix induced erections, the better the opportunity the damaged tissues will be able to repair themselves. Just a thought.

Thank you DT. I've come to realize that I'm not fully impotent by any means but some part of the mechanism is missing or diminished and I'm hoping to get back as much as possible. I cant be the only dude out there that has had neurological issues.

Almost all of on this board that have had radical prostatectomies have a nurological cause for our ED. Diabetics are very often in the neurologic category. Very often the neurologic type problems respond well to injections.

If you think its neurological, ask your PCP TO scan your spine. Anytype of spinal cord compression in the right areas can and will produce an effect on the nerves that corrolate to that region in your body. Example, if you have spinal cord compression on several areas in your cervical spine it can effect the lower half of your body. All nerve impulses must travel trough tne nerves in the neck to reach the brain. So compression on the nervrs in that area of your body could affect your erection. I know fir a fact that a ruptured disc in your neck can cause you to lose bowel and kidney control... certain areas and disc in your neck can cause that.... Good luck and I pray to God that this is not your problem!!! I know you want answers but.not this one I can assure you of that!

There is a nerve center in the sacra area (lower spine) that controls part of the erection process. This is the reason that some paralyzed patients are still capable of generating erections. Make sure you have this area checked out as well.

Thanks Scott, Greg & DT. I had an EMG (nerve study) on the entire lower half of my body. Probes were stuck in my body from the belt to the feet, both, legs , & around the anus. all came back negative. I've had 2 doppler ultrasounds and the second one came back as completely negative for blood flow problems and veinous leaks. Since my injury or event last Summer, my penis does not feel the same sensation. I believe that that I do experience a dull, injured feeling in the top of the penis from time to time, this pain was never there before. I can get an erection on my own with the vibramax or if I take a great amount more time than before. Something in the event chain that allows me to get erections has changed, or been damaged or compromised. My situation is unique and I know its not all in my head. I know that I can get erections whether or not they will be adequette for intercourse, I have not determined yet. My doctor who is pretty good kind discounted the possibility of seeking a neurologist. I plan to discuss this again with him. I'm not happy with my newly acquired problem, I've learned from this site that I have to keep it in perspective, keep looking for answers and that many are in worse shape than me.

Hi Do you now get any nocternal erections or morning woods?

I do sometimes notice erections when I wake up in the middle of the night. I haven't noticed a morning erection in a while, but the alarm clock could be putting a kabosh on it. I believe that nocturnal erections are a good thing. Back in the fall, I had a couple of dates, and I noticed a pretty good response during kissing & petting. Much better than the response I get on my own. This is probably the most encouraging part of my issues. Even though the physical feeling is diminished, I believe that the mental link is alive and well. The feeling in the penis increases as more blood gets into it. It just takes incredibly more effort (masterbating) than it did before. I'm going to talk to the doc about anything I can possibly do about the neurological aspect - which may mean that there is nothing more that I can do. I meant to say that I've been using the viberect, not the vibramax in a previous post.
