HOPE: Clinical Trials and Other Promises on the Horizon

Postby BrokenPiston » Fri Oct 15, 2021 9:28 am

The intent of this thread is to list out the most interesting / hopeful advances that seem plausible in say the next 5 years. Maybe it can become a sticky. It could be research in the lab or in clinical trial. I make no promises but I could at least offer to try to expand my starting list below as people reply here or I stumble into things, either at FrankTalk or elsewhere. In no order, here's my list as of now:

1) Targeted cell repair implants (research done on rabbits): https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-020-16192-x
2) Botox! (phase II trial, apparently) https://www.franktalk.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16546&hilit=botox
3) 3D-printed "device" (clinical trial at Stanford, not sure what it really is, my only guess is customized (size, shape?) open cock rings) https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04624126
4) Hyperbaric oxygen (rich oxygenated air delivered in a high-pressure chamber) https://www.nature.com/articles/s41443-018-0023-9
5) Platelet-rich plasma injection aka the p-shot. Several clinical trials, available commercially quite a bit e.g. https://phoenixmenshealthcenter.com/2019/02/07/priapus-shot-frequently-asked-questions/. The scientific research results are still forthcoming.
6) Stents to boost arterial blood flow into penis. Article (I choose this one over the link in the thread I also link): https://www.tctmd.com/news/zen-published-pelvic-artery-stenting-helps-treat-erectile-dysfunction-some. Discussion: https://www.franktalk.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11438

ED since mid '20, with slight Peyronies. Thus begins a search for the right solution(s); 56yo a/o Sep '21. Three months into my quest (12/21), I think PT-141, Cialis/tadalafil 20mg and L-Arginine (maybe other herbs) are a winning formula. For now.

I'm really excited to see the preliminary results from a study conducted by Dr. Atala and the Wake Forest institute of regenerative medicine next spring. They're actually trying to grow a new corpora and tunica around a donor scaffold from cells harvested from the patients themselves. It's being funded by the US. department of defense so it can't be total BS I reckon. They've already conducted experiments successfully with rabbits.

the clinical trial:

Hyperbaric oxygen shows great promise.

Age 40. Psychogenic ED for over 20 years. Current regimen: Udenafil 200 mg, oral phentolamine mesylate 40 mg, Seredyn.

Cool! In the trial they treated men for 90 minutes 5 days/wk for 8 wks, so there’s time to invest. Hyperbaric oxygen (rich oxygenated air delivered in a high-pressure chamber) is historically for treating deep scuba divers, but is also getting some airplay (hah) in alternative medicine. So it might be available near you. Good full article:

Tried to find the full study for this but only the abstract is easily obtainable. You can't really make any judgements until you read the full paper.
Age 57, ED issues for 15-20 years. Testosterone replacement with Enanthate and Ovidrel. Currently using generic Tadalafil 2.5mgs and Resveratrol daily.

Injecting your own platelet-rich plasma (PRP) could have some regenerative effects give high concentrations of endothelial growth factor. It is the topic of several clinical trials and also available commercially (the Priapus or P-Shot). https://phoenixmenshealthcenter.com/2019/02/07/priapus-shot-frequently-asked-questions/

Maybe my brain is just fried at the moment, but FORTY daily hyperbaric sessions at 90 minutes each makes no sense. That would require a 60 hour day....what am I missing!?
