He said that the Influenza virus interferes with the adrenals glands early on in its onslaught in the body lowering production of cortisol. Much of the symptoms we feel from this virus, he says, are the affects that low cortisol has on the body: fatigue, achy joints, sensitivity to bright light, sore eyes, headache etc.
Supplementing with hydrocortisone essentially tricked the virus, replacing it reduced the effects of inflammation and the disease progression.
I wonder if this lowered cortisol level you may be experiencing could be increasing your libido in these moments. It could also be supressing other hormones produced by the adrenal glands such as adrenalin, thus lowering excessive sympathetic function in the body which is known to decrease libido and sexual function.

So the trick is to reduce cortisol according to this book. How do I go about doing that? What specific medical discipline would cover this issue? Uro, internist, endo?

Dr Jeffries writes about the safe uses of hydrocortisone as opposed to prednisone which is a much stronger newer drug which often causes problems owing to its long action in the body and greater strength.
These drugs act as cortisol in the body, as a supplement as such. hydrocortisone being the one which is safer (according to him) at doing this in low dosages. Prednisone can shut down the adrenal glands far more effectively and thus needs to be used with great caution in the short term.

Cortisol is one of the hormones we cannot live without, so lowering it with any medication is fraught with danger.
The best way to lower excessive cortisol is by lowering stress or perceived stress. Many of us are in a constant state of stress. The fight and flight mechanism is subsequently active most of the time which is therefore telling the adrenal glands to produce higher levels of cortisol and adrenaline. This has many negative effects on our sexual function not to mention general health.
Age 57, ED issues for 15-20 years. Testosterone replacement with Enanthate and Ovidrel. Currently using generic Tadalafil 2.5mgs and Resveratrol daily.

Hi Simbarn,

Appreciate the feedback. But I dont feel any stress most of the time - although I do think about my ED and low libido 95% of the time each and every day. What do you make of this?

Very importantly, I need to tell you something extremely strange that deserves your attention so hopefully you can help. Every night as soon as I feel sleep, my hands and head jerk (and on rare occasions, in the leg as well). I immediately wake up at that moment and I experience losing all libido. If it werent for these jerks my sex life would be a lot better.

Please suggest something so I can go about living life normally without having to suffer greatly. Look forward to your reply, Simbarn.
