I just shave my balls and taint. NEVER shave the pubes because when they grow back, it itches like crazy!
Have to admit though, since the implant, no shaving whatsoever! I may take scissors to pubes soon because its getting a little to unkempt for me. But when I see vids or pics with unshaven cocks/pussies, its a turn-off.

If you keep it short (shave the pubes each time you shower), the itch is minimal or non-existent. The only time I've gotten itchy AFTER shaving was when I over-worked the area and got a bit of razor-burn. As I recall, I applied some Bactine anesthetic spray to soothe the itch until it went away.

Nah...would rather just shave the balls and taint and keep the pubes short. Its no problem for me because I either think about shaving while showering, or if I am in a rush, don't have to worry about it if I forget.

Welcome to the forum, Jomaryngs.

Yes, the preference for de-haired body parts is far from universal. Across cultures or over the terrain of our skin. Women in the U.S. customarily shaved their underarms and legs, but not their pubic hair until recently. Women in parts of Europe still (as far as I know) do not shave underarms. Some women like to be able to dive into a bit of brush to get to a picnic and others dislike having to pick the occasional pubic hair from between their teeth. (And the "fad" of oral sex might be part of the "fad" of hair removal.)

A practical reason for me was, before implant, I would trim my pubic hair short so that it would be shorter than my penis! Trimming underarm hair cuts down on my underarm deodorant consumption. (And having a moustache reduces my chapstick use.)

Of course, nature provides hair for other purposes. Each area of our bodies plays host to microbiomes (different populations for different sites, by the way) and the symbiotic relationship between us and them is just now becoming a subject of scientific study.

So you see, some of the reasons are practical, some aesthetic and some sexual.

So, your point is well taken. We change our preferences according to our activities and understanding and those change over time and between cultures. But I ask if this is a fad, a cyclic progression or an evolution.

While I was using injections I always kept my pubic hair trimmed. After my implant and I was bald, asked the wife what she preferred. Natural. Always hated trimming my pubes, trimming wasn't so bad, it was cleaning up the shower after.
One thing I do notice is since my implant hairs do not grow on my shaft anymore.
I do trim my armpit and chest hairs. If I let my armpit hairs grow, they'll come near my elbows. I don't have much chest hair, mostly around the nipples. I try to shave those off every once in a while, because I like the wife to suck my nipples. A mouthful of hair isn't pleasant, she says.

The question about where did the shaving of pubs start will probably never be known for sure, but I think it began when women's bikini's became so small they were almost nonexistent, then there was the string bikini which does the least amount of covering their parts. Have you ever seen a photo of an abbreviated bikini on a gal that does not shave? I have and it is pretty bad, hard to forget and not inviting at all. Personally, I love the shaved bare look and feel. In fact, I shave my wife, it is a nice sexual ritual.
Used Viagra & Cialis until lost vision in one eye due to AION, therefore can never use pills again, then tri-mix 1 1/2 years until unreliable. Implanted 9/20/22 at 77 years old by Dr. Yafi, UC Irvine. Married 55 years wife 76. 20cm Coloplast Titan.
