Venous leak surgery
Venous leak surgery
I have been diagnosed with venous leak. My choices are surgery to try to fix the leak or implant. If anybody has had surgery to try to fix a venous leak please share your experience . Thanks .

Re: Venous leak surgery
I have read that the rate of success for venous leak surgery is Not very high.
Have you tried Trimix? Sometimes it can increase the blood flow enough to overcome the leak.

Yup I tried injections. Nothing works.
Re: Venous leak surgery
Venous leak seems to be uncurable condition (I have one). Ligation used to be quite a popular treatment in the past... until was proved to be useless as the leak will restore back after a year or so while scarring from the surgery will definitely affect the length.
Looks like in our case the implant is the only option that exists these days at this level of medicine.
Unfortunately there is virtually no interest in the medial studies to find a cure for ED. This is quite a contrast with let's say heart studies.
Even though quite a large population of man wouldn't give a crap about their heart while their dick is not working

Anybody on here at all have experience with crural ligation surgery? My docs are recommending it
Re: Venous leak surgery
Yes I have done one surgery back in 1997. The surgery took 7 hours.
I had better erection after that. It was 50 % chance to make ite better the urolog told me before surgery.
Anyway the surgery done it better for me but it did'nt give me a full erection. Now I'm thinking of a implant instead.

Since the long-term success rate is very low and, as others have said not recommended anymore ... sounds like your Doc is just trying to line his pockets. I would suggest finding another URO. Seek his opinion on Implant vs. "crural ligation surgery" ... which is usually only done on young men anyway.
I too have venous leak ... but is of no concern anymore since my Implant.

Re: Venous leak surgery
Hey, I am 23 years old erectil dysfunction patient because of venous leak. I have had erectil dysfunction all my life . My Doctor diagnosed venous leak on me by cavernosometry test (doppler tests are misleading on diagnosing VL) . I had Venous Ligation Surgery 1 year ago .But it didn't solved my erection problem at all. I am still taking Viagra 100 mg or Levitra one or half hour before foreplay but even this thing is not providing me a normal steady and stiff erections. My doctor suggests me to get an AMS implant.
I am not sure which one is better, AMS or Titan?
I mailed and asked this to Dr. Jeffrey Albaugh and he responded me that : They both are excellent so as long as the urologist is comfortable with it, either are fine.
Note : I am not suggesting venous ligation surgery ! Even my surgeon was told me that satisfaction rates for venous ligation surgery is very low and the success is temporary . But i wanted to try .Unfortunately all I have is a stitch scar on my pubic area but no good results .
I asked about my failed venous ligation surgery to Dr. Harold Reed ,then he replied : Ligation for venous leakage has been de-listed as a reimbursable
procedure by a major insurance company Blue Cross/ Blue Shield,
in that the operation does not produce durable results. Baby veins the doctor
can barely see, become enlarged to carry on the work of larger
veins tied off, and you are back to square one.
The problem is a microscopic one in the erectile tissue itself. Once the blood
gets into the venules, the larger veins have no choice but to
carry that blood back to the central venous return.
