REM sleep hard-on

2013 - 64 years old
Nerve sparing RP in 2004, PSA 17, Gleason 3+4, Stage 2Tc no leakage but extreme ED. Went through different stages of depression (some severe) medication – no help.Cancer returned in 2010 (1st PSA check since RP) PSA 5.5 next PSA check 2013 (PSA 8.8) Bone scan negative. I refused CT scan due to copay (over $700.00)
Quality of life non existence since RP. After 9 years of a limp dick; within the past 2 weeks I woke up out of REM sleep with a rock hard boner – Oh the greatest feeling!! After I wake it doesn’t stay hard for a minute The question is why I cannot achieve even a semi hard on while awake. Counseling – no good, VED – no good. I tried to discuss my ED concerns with my urologist and he only stated “we will get rid of the cancer then we’ll address the ED”. Personally, I am concerned about ED and not cancer. I have unique issues to come to this conclusion.
The question is: If I can get a rock boner hard on during REM sleep, what can I do to get a hard on while I’m awake?

I wonder if any of you ever get a short lasting erecting when yawning?
Maybe they can duplicate that phenomenon somehow.

Have you tried the normal ED treatments? Pills, injections or VED? Please listen to you Dr. Get that cancer asap. I have lost a friend and relative to this cancer. I had radiation and side effects were minimal. If you let the cancer spread, ED will be the least of your concerns!

I had an RP and radiation therapy in 2005 and get no erection unless I use injections or a pump. I occassionally get a night time erection, but am not able to keep it long enough to have sex. I call them 'teaser' boners. They tease me to believe I've got a usable erection, but I in fact do not.
