Why Are Penile Implants Called Bionic?

Postby Kimball » Wed Jun 17, 2026 1:54 pm

My understanding is, to be bionic, penile implants would have to rely on electonics, electrical motors or digital sensors to function. Current implants are medical prosthetics.
I'm in my early 70's. Serious problems with ED started in my early 60's. ED drugs were eventually not effective enough. Aquired VED pump and constriction rings in 2024 which provides usable erections for sexual activity.

It's just a use of poetic licence. I suspect it was never meant to be technically accurate.
And yes, it sounds way cooler than medical prosthesis 8-).

p.s. I have a bionic knee as well .
