How accurate/reliable is the doppler ultrasound test?

Postby dwater » Mon May 23, 2016 10:59 pm

Hi All,

I've been suffering from debilitating erectile dysfunction for about 5 years now. The onset was quite sudden and corresponded with a mishap during which my girlfriend at the time accidentally sat on my penis. At the time, I didn't think any permanent damage was done, but over the last few years I've started to suspect that I might have fractured my penis. As such, I am very interested in getting a doppler ultrasound test done to see if any damage is visible. However, before I ask my doctor, I am curious how accurate this test is? Will it show if I have suffered a fracture? What about venous leak? Are the results black and white or are they open to interpretation? I appreciate any help or information you can share!

Hello. What age are you? There is a video which might be of interest to you

You also should go to a sexual medicine expert for a full exam. You have no other risk factors for ed? If not, definitely see that video

I'm in my 30's. I've actually already done some research on this procedure and am very skeptical of it's effectiveness. I have read several patient accounts that would seem to indicate the surgery is only partially effective at restoring an erection, and even then, the effects of surgery seem to fade within a year or two. There are also very few doctors who perform the procedure, which seems strange to me. If the procedure were actually effective, I would think many doctors would be doing this surgery. Finally, it's quite invasive and very expensive, which would be worth if it was effective, but as far as I can tell, it is not. However, if you have first hand experience with the surgery, I would love to hear it. I am always open to different perspectives.
