Traveling Post Op
I need to travel 400 miles after surgery and the DR says to wait 1 week until after return visit. Due to using a mobility scooter I would prefer to drive. Drive time is 6-7 hrs. Fly time would be 5-6 hrs due to ck in, layover, getting to vehicle and 1 hr drive home. My wife would drive home. Could also take Sprinter travel van but I would end up driving thru LA and possible a little additional. Any comments or suggestions?
I am 74 years old and live near San Diego, CA. Had my 3 piece implant done 3 years ago by DR. Karpman. Due to MS I no longer have feeling in my hands and am no longer able to inflate. "ANY HELP" would be greatly appreciated!

My Dr, (Dr. Cornell out of Houston) gave me the OK to travel home, about 220 miles, by car on the 2nd day after surgery. Wanted me close to hosp for 1 night. Also told me that I could drive if needed.
Why not ask about staying one night nearby in case of issues and then break your drive up into 2 days and see what he thinks about that.

Re: Traveling Post Op
My doctor (Kramer) came to my hotel the second day after surgery, Friday evening with Wednesday morning surgery. He said I looked really good and there would be no problem with my driving one hour after arriving back in Nashville on the plane. I'm not sure I could have held up to 400 miles. It's now Monday and I drove to my office for a couple hours. No problem driving but I'm still not feeling up to par simply because I've been through surgery.
If I had to go 400 miles, I would certainly want someone else doing a lot of the driving and I would lie down on the back seat so I could keep pressure off my surgery most of the time.
