Nocturnal Erections

Postby Hunchback » Tue Nov 21, 2017 4:34 am

Before joining this forum i've never payed much attention to my nocturnal erections, but reading through some of the threads i started wondering a little bit.

Since my ED is caused by spine damage when i was one year old, i've never really had "healthy" erectile functions. I couldn't know (and still don't) what "normal" nocturnal erections are like... I know that some of you guys here have had your ED much later in life so maybe you can talk a little bit about your experience through the years.

So, when i was young (teen years ) i had regular night wood of good quality when waking up in the middle of the night - full erection that would stay on for quite a while after waking up and slowly go away. I can't really tell the frequency, but it was probably every other night. Important thing to note is that at that time i was single and had no sexual relations.
Later on, when i was in my 20s, the nocturnals started diminishing, but i didn't really pay much attention to it since i thought it was normal to change with age and also the fact that i was in a relation. Today i am 33 years old and i've been with my wife for 10 years and we have a very active sexual life. I still have regular "night wood" but it's only semi-flacid and very rarely a full-on erection. We've actually noticed that it's very dependent on when we last had sex - if for some reason the last time was longer than 3 days away i start to get harder nocturnals and. I've always considered normal and logic... However, as i said, reading though this forum it seems that "normal" behaviour might be different.

So my question is for the guys who got their ED late in life: How did all that work for you while you were healthy?

I think it varries a lot from parson to person. I started having ED issues at 43 right after divorce for no appearant reason. Now ten years later I cannot get even a partial erection from any kind of stimulation from a woman or self. However I have rock hard night or morning erection. But if I try to masturbate it goes away very rapidly. I suspect some pcycological reason, but no idea otherwise.
Thank god Trimix injections work great for me and I enjoy very rich sexual life as a bechelor.

Hey newtoed,

I was very puzzled by the "rock hard nocturnal/morning" erections myself, how come i had them yet i had ED. So i spoke with my uro about it and he explained that even if the result is the same, the systems behind are entirely different and independent...

The average man has about 11 erections each day and several more at night. However as we age, the number of errections start to diminish.

During the first five or so years into my ED, I would wake up with morning wood once or twice a week. Currently, I am unable to achieve an erection without the aid of a VED. However. I do occasionally wake up with a weak semi.

I have done some research on this myself as I find it very puzzling that I can achieve night time erections that last for hours sometimes yet I can't get hard during waking hours with an attractive female. It's very frustrating. From what I have read...the night time erections stem from a totally different part of our brains. Now if we can just figure out how to tap into that side during waking hours I think a lot of us might not be on this forum.

I also noticed that when I started my testosterone therapy that I had very hard erections every night that lasted for hours. My T level went very high. I have since dialed it back and my night time erections are not as frequent or as annoying. It's hard to sleep sometimes with third leg :D

Cheers

That reminds me of the old joke....

Q; "Why do they give Viagra every night to the guys in the old folks home?"

A: " To keep them from rolling out of bed."
